Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Does anyone want my Get Married - 5 points on sheet 2 for a wedding takes places?

message 252: by June (new)

June | 159 comments You can put me down for Get Married 3 points and Get Married 5 points for sheet two. That should be 6&7 for me.

And of course if I can get my books down quick I'll jump in for last minute points.

message 253: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Okay. Thank you June =]

message 254: by June (new)

June | 159 comments No Prob. ^_^

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Right Helen, Now your 4 books are chosen, Unemployed, Over 60, War and Exotic Pet on Sheet 2.

Angie, your choices are fine =] Your down for YA book, A child under 2 on Sheet 2. And your war book is on Sheet 1. So that's 3 books.

There is a read any book for 5 points available for anyone too.

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Marine, I took a look in the rules for the toppler. And unicorns don't count =[ What about [book:Life of Pi|4214] have you read that? I read one a while ago it was quite good, had polar bears in: Fallen Autumn. They pay a big part as she can talk to them and they need her help. Or The Call of the Wild perhaps? I left a message for Jmom about that one.

I have to say, Sarah, I'm really pleased with your great sheet! I looked at team A and B and one of them hasn't got one and the other is not half as good as yours! You just look at it and it is absolutely clear what is expected of you!

I can hardly wait to begin!

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1802 comments Sarah wrote: "I've narrowed down my books even further so think I will be reading Annihilation and The Gunslinger but that may change by the time we get reading! These are the two shortest out of my original list...."

The Gunslinger is good, I think I read that for Bingo. And I've read that the rest of the series is better!

message 259: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Thanks Elsbeth. I'm a bit of an organised perfectionist lol. Although I have toned down from what I used to be *phew*. Both teams have charts, I've been eyeing them =D hehe

I can't wait either =P

I want to read The Gunslinger at some point. It's never at the library but all the others in the series are there =[ Booo!

message 260: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1802 comments You could just move Marnie up to fill in the last 5 point space instead of putting her in the 3 pointer?? :)

message 261: by Sarah (last edited May 27, 2014 08:16AM) (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Dawn wrote: "You could just move Marnie up to fill in the last 5 point space instead of putting her in the 3 pointer?? :)"

Ooh.. Yes, I could move Helen up to the 5 points instead as she's doing an exotic animal too. Then Marnie you can take the 5 points free book (rather than the 3 poits free book). Let me know if this is okay. And I'll change it =]

Also you'd then have your choice for free book as well as chosing whatever you want for a 5th book?

Thanks Dawn =]

message 262: by Marnie (last edited May 27, 2014 11:49AM) (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3316 comments Sarah I noted that JMom said no fictitious animals so I did what any self respecting member of YLTO would do...I STOLE A TITLE.

The Year of the Hare is what I will read. I checked the threads and two people can read the same book even for the same category. My library had it so I scooped it up.

My books ( at the moment) in order of how I will read/ listen to them
Childhood The Art of Racing in the Rain
Buy a home -Pride and Prejudice
Family reunion- Montana Sky or The Burgess Boys
Get a pet- The Year of the Hare
Lottery-Still Life or The League Of The Scarlet Pimpernel

message 263: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Haha. Okay Marnie. Shall I leave you as you are? Your happy enough with the exotic animal book?

message 264: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3316 comments Sounds good to me. I guess it is a very populate Finnish book so I am excited to experience it. Plus it is under 200 pages so... you know in Toppler terms it's perfect. May even give me a chance to add another book...but I will let you know if I get that far.

message 265: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Okie dokie =] Moved you up to the 5 points in lottery too.

Whoop, so now all out 5 points slots are filled on both sheets. I'm not sure if we'd get to a sheet 3 to be honest, But lots of 3 points are available. So plenty of extra points we can gain with an last minute reads during the toppler.

Lynn, I'm waiting back to hear whether it's okay for you to read YA twice, I don't see why not if it's on a different sheet anyway. So we'll see. Annette would you like anymore?

Marnie (marnie19) | 3316 comments I forgot to add that you continue to do a great job Sarah and I know that The CHATTERING Book Addicts are in great hands.

Good morning/ afternoon team.

Added the new link.

message 269: by June (new)

June | 159 comments Marnie,

I love stealing titles from other team members. I only have one of my seven that I have no clue what I read but I figured I had some time to spy because its on the second sheet. lol

Sarah,
Great job. I'm hoping with only being short 3 books maybe once the topplers gets going we can fill in those. I remember with bingo many of us asked for extra books a data we finished our assignments and had time.

message 270: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments That's good to hear Dawn about the Gunslinger (and it's sequels) - I've been wanted to get started on the series for a while. Sarah, if you like, you can borrow the gunslinger from me at some point as we're both in Bristol!

I think I mentioned about reading Sheet 1 books first and perhaps we should also focus on completing the 5 pt books first too to ensure maximum points in case we can't finish all the ones we've signed up for.

message 271: by Helen (new)

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments Wow - talk about things coming together. I just got notices from my library that three of my four books are on their way and will be here by the end of the week. The fourth is on my kindle already. Therefore, all will be on hand by toppler time. Yeah!

Sarah, great job! Spreadsheet looks terrific and the Team C "toppler cats" seem to be herding pretty well. Can't wait for the fun to begin!

message 272: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments That is good timing Helen! All this anticipation is killing me!

message 273: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60269 comments Sarah and Sarah, have you met in real life? That would be so much fun to meet a YLTO member.

Sarah | 18550 comments Janice wrote: "Sarah and Sarah, have you met in real life? That would be so much fun to meet a YLTO member."

No we haven't.

I agree Janice that it would be fun (and strange at the same time) to meet another YLTO member. A YLTO get-together would be awesome! As long as it was somewhere warm though!

Lynn | 2988 comments Sarah wrote: "Lynn, I'm waiting back to hear whether it's okay for you to read YA twice, I don't see why not if it's on a different sheet anyway."

I don't see why not either and it doesn't say anything about it in the rules .... we shall have to see what 'Meanie' says ;)

message 276: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2988 comments Ah, however I see that the category has now gone to someone else now anyway .... I'll go see if I can find a book one of the others that still needs to be filled.

message 277: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Lynn wrote: "I don't see why not either and it doesn't say anything about it in the rules .... we shall have to see what 'Meanie' says ;) "

Lol. Remember though we can still read as many of the tasks as we like, so if you want to you can still read YA. Up to you =]

message 278: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Thanks Helen and June =]

That's great your books are all ready for you Helen Yay!

Now we have to wait. Gah! I'm all fired up and reay to go. Just can't wait to get started =D

Sarah wrote: " Sarah, if you like, you can borrow the gunslinger from me at some point as we're both in Bristol!"

That would be very kind of you. I'm not sure when I will read it yet, but I'll let you know when I know. It probs won't be for a while. And I agree somewhere nice and warm and cozy like a coffee shop =P

After that we're probably just looking at 3 pointers anyway, unless somehow we make a third sheet.... :)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Chattering Book Addicts Crushes the Competition can have our own libation, too (not to be outdone by the Bee's Knees - very cute name and mascot, you guys).

Here's one possibility...

"Monastery Coffee"
Monastery Coffee photo irishcoffee_zps1b68d25e.png

4 oz hot coffee
2 oz benedictine herbal liqueur
2 oz heavy cream
1/4 tsp granulated sugar

Pour the coffee into an Irish coffee cup or glass. Add the sugar; stir to dissolve. Add the benedictine and stir again. Pour the cream carefully over the back of a teaspoon to float on top, and serve.

Or here's a good one...
"The Bookworm"

The Bookworm Cocktail photo TheBookwormCocktail_zpsbcc2b955.jpg

1.5 oz. apple juice
2 oz. pineapple juice
3 oz. ginger ale
Mix these together with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a gummy worm!

Sounds refreshing : )

message 284: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Nice one Janet! Love the mascot! I found some great t-shirts the other day with book worms on and "Eat - Sleep - Read"!

The drinks sound fantastic, although adding a little vodka to the latter one would also do the trick! ;-)

message 285: by Sarah (last edited May 28, 2014 06:27AM) (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Haha the drinks are great Tejas Janet=D I have to have the coffee one for sure. I'd add a bit of rum to the cocktail, yum yum =D

Wow, I want that T-shirt, Sarah was that in the custom t-shirt shop in The Galleries?

message 286: by Sarah (last edited May 28, 2014 06:49AM) (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Dawn wrote: "After that we're probably just looking at 3 pointers anyway, unless somehow we make a third sheet.... :) "

Well, I think if we're clever about it we could even move onto another sheet.

There are 6 3-point slots available before we could move onto the next sheet.

Angie I've kept you for all the books you wanted, but I moved myself out of the 5-points war/conflict and popped you there instead (on sheet 2). I'm going to take a 3-point slot, now we have 5 3-point slots to fill before we could get onto another sheet. And I know Lynn has 1 book left to chose, and Tejas Janet left me possibilities so I popped them on the sheet in purple. So we may just be able to get onto another sheet, if we have any additional reads, if not, no worries.. I think we're kicking butt =P

Update: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Ap...

If we did manage to get onto a third sheet, then Helen's places for 3-points on Sheet 2 could be moved up to 5-points on sheet 3 (as she has exotic pet, war/conflict and over 60).

message 287: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments So Peggy, I'm not reading my war/conflict book anymore for sheet 2. I'll let you know what I'll be reading for Lose your job: 3-points with a colour in the title.

message 288: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments @Sarah - the T-shirt were on eBay! I think I typed in "book t-shirts" and a few different ones came up.

We are certainly kicking butt! As much as I want to say sign me up for another, I best wait until I've read the two I'm down for but fingers crossed I will be able to fit another one in.

I need to work out what the time will be in Croatia for me to start and then I will finish on UK time - more confusing than normal!

Marnie (marnie19) | 3316 comments Added new link.

I think we will definitely get two lives and Sarah it will be easy to pick extra books because you have us so organized.

Love the drinks...I would opt for the coffee one too. Cheers!

I'm hoping we get a new team member today- fingers crossed. :)

message 290: by Lynn (last edited May 28, 2014 08:43AM) (new)

Lynn | 2988 comments Sarah wrote: "And I know Lynn has 1 book left to chose"

Out of the 3 options left:
1) Horror - I really don't want to read this, I never really seem to enjoy this genre.
2) Big Party - Out of my upcoming reads I can't seem to find one that fits the category.
So that leaves ...
3) Read any book - I was trying not to fill this one to try and help out the team in case someone else was struggling. However as it's my 7th book, maybe I should be a bit selfish? ;)

So if it's alright with everyone else take the free ride please.

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Okie dokie those 4 it is =]

I've popped you down fo Childhood and Get A Divorce on the first sheet. If we move onto a third sheet, I'll bump you up to that and you'd gte 5 points for each instead of 3.

Get Remarried and Go on Vacation are on Sheet 2.
