Team C AKA Chattering Book Addicts Crushes The Competition
Hmmm, I just realised I did the chart inmy own copy of word, rather than Google docs word and just uploaded it, so everytime I do update it you won't see. So bare with me and I'll sort something out, so that you'll be able to see any changes I make. I may have to give you a new link. But I'll let you know.
Ok Sarah- what I understand you saying is not to post what people are saying they might read until closer to Toppler because we may need to plot them in different categories. I will keep track and when we get closer and everyone is more certain I will have it ready.

"Yes, for now I think Sheet 1 is fine, if everyone is happy, you can make a list of those tasks and their books. But for now leave Sheet 2 until we know for sure.
No worries Sarah. The hard part is being so excited and having to wait, lol. So in other words we have some time.
Peggy I just read were you want to help,,, your pick do you want to do the lists or the reporting/ keeping score - up to you.
June wrote: "No worries Sarah. The hard part is being so excited and having to wait, lol. So in other words we have some time."I know yes, I am so excited I've been typing fast a lot and completely mispelled loads of things lol.. Oops. Yes we have plenty of time =]
Well, for sheet one I'll be reading:– read a book where someone is unemployed Agnes Grey
– read a book with a color in the title The Golden Rose
– read a book with a one word title Geist
I'm really sorry but because I made the chart in word I'll ahve to keep uploading the file and giving you a new link each time, as stupid google docs doesn't have a feature that allows you to revise a copy =O it's shocking! I hope they make that feature soon. It's okay if you make a document in google docs as you can come back to it. But when it's from my own word it doesn't let you =[ BOOO! *shakes fist*Sorry. So here is the new link... for now. Updated a few more things on Sheet 2. Sheet 1 is left as it is.

Thanks Marnie =]Annette is there anything you don't particularly want to read are all of them okay for you?
Sarah wrote: "Thanks Marnie =]Annette is there anything you don't particularly want to read are all of them okay for you?"
I actually will read anything if I need to but I would rather not read a book about a pet.... they have a tendency to die at the end and I don't really want to cry if I don't have to. :)
Awww. No worries I have pet covered. Thank you. I have you down for 4 at the moment. Do you just want to stick to 5? I know you said more but it's really up to you.I'm going to leave the sheet until everyone else has checked in now. We're waiting for Angie and Helen. And I want them to have a choice seeing as they are coming it bit later.
I know you like travelling Dawn, so popped you in for a vacation, and June I know you wanted dystopian, so now you can read 'The Handmaid's Tale' and tell me how much you like it =D

I will do whatever you need me to do. I loved the last Toppler we did so I pretty much cleared my schedule for this one. I'm planning to use it as a "stay-cation" :)
Thank you Sarah. :) I'll let you know. I think overall this will be a lot easier than bingo, not so much a puzzle and it will be easier to Rally in the final stretch. lol All I can imagine on the last day of the toppler is a clean up crew party where we all try and get as many last minute points. Fun. XD
Looks like we're making progress! We have a great team with lots of avid readers! I wish I could contribute more - last team toppler I managed 5 but my holiday this time has thrown a spanner in the works. Hey-ho! So I'm down for two - Once I'm back on 13th, I'll no whether I can fit another one in or not - will let you know Sarah!
That's ok Sarah, Life happens. And even if you only read 2 books it still counts and helps us. Last toppler I was chaperoning a slumber party so I lost two days. One more week and I would have been on vacation for this toppler.
Sorry, the book I chose for the reunion is not accepted (since one of the characters is not alive and not able to really interact with his relatives).I do have found some books for other themes:
- a new start (job and town)De toneelclub
-main character is 5 years old/ during WWII Eva's Berlin: Memories Of A Wartime Childhood
-a book about a new start/main character is married/story takes place in a house Perfume from Provence
And one I'm not so sure about (I'll ask) Het zwijgen van Maria Zachea: een ware familiegeschiedenis, about an old mother/grandmother of the author who is dying. Her 12 children decide to take care of her one by one. But she still lives for 8 years. The author gets more and more fascinated by her and wants to tell the story of her grandmother. She talks to the 12 children, who tell their story, which of course is in part also the story of their mother.
So: main character is above 60/some of the children were students/family reunion by the bed of mother?
Hi Elsbeth, that's no problem, I'll take you out of the reunion spot. I'm sorry how many books did you say you wanted to read, was it 3?If it's okay, I'll pop you in the Childhood one, and let you know about any others in a bit.
Sarah wrote: " Once I'm back on 13th, I'll no whether I can fit another one in or not - will let you know Sarah!"Okie dokie =] Thanks Sarah
Okay, I shall put you down for 2 for now and you just let me know when we do the toppler if you want another =] I'll let you know where I place you soon. It'll be out of the tasks you've chosen so no worries there.
Elsbeth wrote: "And one I'm not so sure about (I'll ask) Het zwijgen van Maria Zachea: een ware familiegeschiedenis"I saw you've asked J'mom in the other thread. I just checked the book to see if there was an English edition but unfortunately not so not sure how she'll rule it. Sounds to me like it would fit the over 60 category but we'll have to wait and see.
June wrote: "That's ok Sarah, Life happens. And even if you only read 2 books it still counts and helps us. Last toppler I was chaperoning a slumber party so I lost two days. One more week and I would have been..."True! I was on holiday last year during the June Toppler and I still managed 3 books (although I wasn't away for as long). I shouldn't be complaining that I'm going to be on holiday really!
Sarah wrote: "June wrote: "That's ok Sarah, Life happens. And even if you only read 2 books it still counts and helps us. Last toppler I was chaperoning a slumber party so I lost two days. One more week and I wo..."Well, I have to work (just for 2 and a half day) during that week and we've planned 2 days with family or friends (because we have a long weekend) so I'm curious as to how many books I will be able to read! Of course I always use every free moment (don't look at the dust in our house ;)...): toilet-visit (they usually take about 10 minutes at least :)...), lunch-break, breakfast etc.
Very true Elsbeth and that is the fun of the toppler - cramming in reading where you wouldn't normally, staying up later than planned, getting up earlier than usual etc. I can't wait to get started!
I still have another book about someone older than 60 (and someone younger than 13) and which takes place in a car (for a while) and in a house (for the rest of the story). Another one in dutch: Verborgen gebreken
I think Jmom says that the event/task has to take up 80% of the story. So I'm not sure you can use it for the car one. I think your other book will either go in the Fresh Start for 5 points or someone is married for 3 points. Not sure yet. I'll see what Angie and Helen can do, then I'll let you know exactly where your second book goes =]
I think 'The Depths' by Nick Thacker could fit the 'married'-theme; the main character goes in search of her kidnapped son, together with her husband. Full description (from www.storycartel.com), because it is not yet on Goodreads: When Jen Adams’ son is kidnapped and her boss is brutally murdered, she and her husband are thrown into a hunt to find out why.
The mystery takes her and a team of soldiers and scientists deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean — to a research station lying under five miles of water one of the deepest oceanic trenches on the planet. The station has been abandoned for over thirty years, and no one knows what to expect when they get there.
As they begin to learn more about the station, however, they find out there's something the base is trying to hide — something that could prove devastating for the rest of the world…

It is fun =] OOh Marnie, I've decided what I'll read for the college one, read a book about a college student - A Beautiful Struggle.
I'm not sure yet for the war and the dystopian, I really want to read Allegiant but not sure which one to read it for. I have Once (dystopian) and Azincourt (war) that I could use, which really need to go back to the library soon as I've had them for ages.. Urgh, I can't pick lol. Someone help me pick.
You could use the fruit machine to pick! I often resort to it for topplers as there are so many books that can often fit a theme! I suppose it depends on how many books you want to read in the week - I often go for shorter books or those which are easy reads in order to fit more in! Allegiant is over 500 pages (my version was anyway) but it's a quick read whereas something like Azincourt might take you longer (even though it's shorter)?!?
Hmmm, good point. I'm going for 3 or 4 books. Sticking at 3 and if I can get another in I will =]Hmm. Yes I just finished Insurgent and it's 525 pages and I read it in 3 days. I'll go with what you said and use the fruit machine =D
Hah Allegiant it is =]
So Marnie:
A Beautiful Struggle for Sheet 1, College: read a book with a college student - 5 points
Once for Sheet 1, Graduation: read a dystopian - 3 points
Allegiant for Sheet 2, Get a divorce: read a war/civil conflict - 5 points
Hi guys - just signed in after the holiday. I can commit to 3 books for sure and maybe 4. Here are the three I am thinking of but can be flexible if you need something else - 1. Yellow Star - fits either - you choose where you need it
Childhood - under 16 (5)
Get a Divorce - takes place in war (5)
2. The Year of the Hare - fits a couple - you choose
Get a Pet - exotic creatures (5) - having this verified
Fabulous Vacation - foreign country (5)
3. Armed and Outrageous
Retire - main character over 60 (5)
Let me know if you are in need of other categories - I can do some gophering in my tbr, kindle, shelves etc
Hi Helen. I'll put you down for 3 for now then and if you can do a 4th during the toppler just let us know. All those you have chosen are fine, but they will only get us 3 points from now on. If you want to help us get 5 points these are available: where a character is unemployed, where a wedding takes place or a family reunion, Think you could do maybe one of those?
Since the main character in Helen's last book is 72 years old and probably doesn't have a job, perhaps that book can count for the 'umemployed' task?
Marnie wrote: "Peggy I just read were you want to help,,, your pick do you want to do the lists or the reporting/ keeping score - up to you."Didn't you start the book list already? I'll go with keeping score then :)
Sarah, what is it exactly that you would like me to do? Keep track of what has been read for how many points once the challenge starts? If so I might not be the best person for the job, as I will have no internet access at all from June 7 until June 10.
I'm not sure whether Marnie has started the book list yet? I didn't see anything in message 1 so if not it might be easier to switch, and instead you could state the tasks and the books people will read for them, and Marnie could keep track of points when we start the actual toppler. Is that okay?
I will do whatever helps the most. I am around for the entire Toppler so can easily keep track of points....Good morning Chatterring Book Addicts- Happy gophering!
Sarah wrote: "I'm not sure whether Marnie has started the book list yet? I didn't see anything in message 1 so if not it might be easier to switch, and instead you could state the tasks and the books people will..."Hm, I think she posted a list yesterday in the first message hidden in spoilers, but I don't see it anymore either. I don't mind switching, but I think the problem stays a bit: I won't be able to make any updates for the first 4 days of the Toppler, and people might change to different books from what they plan to read now. Should it be a list of the books we plan to read, or a list of books that have been read (so also started when the toppler starts)?
Why exactly is it important to keep track of all the specific books? I'm sure it's very obvious but not to me at the moment ;-)
Elsbeth do you know whether the wedding takes a considerable part of the story, remember at least 80% Jmom says. That would be better Marnie if you can do the points =] Peggy you can go ahead and make the lists of tasks and books from sheet 1 if you like. I guess just keep a list in this thread for now? And when the toppler starts Marnie can just copy and paste the list over and keep track of points =]
Peggy wrote: "Hm, I think she posted a list yesterday in the first message hidden in spoilers, but I don't see it anymore either. That's no problem being away, by the time the toppler comes round, the tasks that people have got I'm sure they will know what books they'll be reading. I think it should be a list of what people are planning to read for the particular task. During the toppler if there are any changes or additional tasks and therefore books are chosen, Marnie can update them in her list as she'll be tracking points. I hope this makes sense to you both? Sort of what we did in the last weekly toppler Peggy =]
I think copy and paste the tasks to a new message and just add the person and the book next to each =] Just the first sheet (1st Life) for now though. Still working on sheet 2
Erm.. I thought we had to list books in general lol. I think it's a good idea, as people know what they are reading beforehand and also others may like to read that book both from our group and the others.
Marnie, do you still have the list you started? If so, could you post it here/send it to me so I can continu it?
Peggy - you are not crazy I had started but we decided to hold off on posting it until closer to the Toppler so people could change their mind etc. I deleted it. My book has been cleared for Childhood ( yippee and happy dance time)- so I am definitely reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. Everything else - I'm still looking.
Peggy - I will message you it in a few. :)
Pfew! I'll start a new list, I find it easier to start keeping track now and perhaps making some changes, than having to browse through 20 pages right before the toppler.

Yes, I think 2 will be fine.
I'll let you know about the reunion.
