Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Thanks Helen. I'll pop you in in the chart tomoz as I'm on my phone at the moment.

Lillisa I'll let you know where I place you tomoz =]

Hmm. Just finished Carrie by Stephen King, that's the second book I've read if his. He's a really good write but not sure I like the stories much. I'll have to try another, I have The shining on my list for October. Hope I enjoy that one more and actually get scared lol.

message 452: by June (new)

June | 159 comments I'm over halfway through Riding in Cars with Boys: Confessions of a Bad Girl Who Makes Good The book store closed so I'll be back there to finish it. ;)

I'm going to start Allegiant tonight, it should be a quick read.

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Toppler Day 3

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

We are at 96 points right now...we should break 100 soon. Great job Team!

message 456: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Woop =D

A little less reading today, as I'm planning a new workout calendar for when I go away this weekend and cleaning-(booo).

I'll carry on this evening =]

message 457: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments I think I might actually get more reading done now that I'm back at work, what an inconvenient weekend to be busy!!

Though I did have a blast out golfing with my co-workers. Thank God we were in teams and we only had to use a couple of my dreadful shots!!

message 458: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments *******Sarah Jigz***********
Please see message 44-45 on reporting thread.

4 books on a busy weekend! I wish I could read as fast as you Dawn.

message 459: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments That is fine Marnie, and a very good idea =D

Dawn I'll put you in LIFE 1 for takes place in a residence, and I've moved Marnie from there to a book with a party LIFE 3.

I have reunion, but I'm thinking of changing it anyway, and instead reading something else =D So Dawn you can have my spot on LIFE 3 - reunion 5 points.

Update: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Ap...

message 460: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Well didn't you fix everything Sarah!!!

Teamwork!

message 461: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Awesome, that worked out well considering I just randomly picked them out. Mostly because they were fast and short! :)

I'll try and fit anymore extras into some 5 point slots on sheet 3.

message 462: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hehe =] It's all good. Wow and some more =P We may just get onto another sheet at this rate!

message 463: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments This is what we have so far: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Ap...

message 464: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Sarah- the amazing Dawn has added another book for you to slot.

Finished my next audiobook. Crooked House
Another extra, which can be used on sheet 3 for 'Turn 16 - where a car or driving plays a part', a nice empty 5 pointer.

Though it would also work for 'Buy a house - residence or residence on cover' and 'Get remarried - fresh start'

I am going to tentatively score it in turn 16 - life 3 for 5 points but can move it if you want it in a different spot.

message 465: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hehe yep that's where I put it Marnie =] Thought it would be good to get us another 5 points =P

message 466: by Marnie (last edited Jun 09, 2014 04:21PM) (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments The Chattering Book Addicts have gone quiet except for the very loud sound of all those books being read. Almost everyone has checked in with a completed read unless they are on a fabulous vacay or knee deep into their book.

We are doing great and hopefully reading lots of great books.

message 467: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Hey Dawn - I saw you finished Agnes Grey. How was it?

message 468: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Good but not wonderful. A slow kinda sweet story. Nothing dramatic.

I'll have to try The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and see if she writes a better long story.

message 469: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Alright, I'm home and heading off to find some food and read my next book, Geist. See ya in 5 or 6 hours! :)

message 470: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments Just reported my 5th completed book. Looks like I should be able to at least get on to a 8th book. I will take a look at the grid tomorrow when I'm on my laptop rather than the Kindle

message 471: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Lynn you are amazing!. I just upped my total to 6 books which is the most I have ever read in a Toppler!

message 472: by Helen (new)

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments Finished book 4 - A Spy in the House
Sheet 3 - Buy a House - picture of house on cover (3 pts)

message 473: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Just checking on a couple readers.

Angie how are your books going? No worries if you have your nose in your books- that is the point of these Topplers. Could you give a little check in so I know things are ok?

Kirila - I see you have started your book- are you liking it?

The vacay girls- we will hear from when they get back. Can't wait to hear about their adventures!

Everyone else has reported a book (or 6-7 books :) to bring us to 144 points so far. We are doing great and lots of time left to read.

message 474: by June (new)

June | 159 comments Sarah,

I read Allegiant for one word because I have The Handmaid's Tale for dystopian. I'm only about 40 pages in so fat but its ranking first out of my toppler reads so far. I know not as many people like Allegiant, but I did. It has themes that are more typical of adult dystopian rather than young adult.

I'm going to sneak back to the bookstore again tomorrow while hubby's at work to finish the other half of Riding in Cars with Boys. And pick up my 5 point wedding book. I think hubby wants to do something for my birthday (and his cause we're 2 days apart) I want to get some toppling done earlier.

message 475: by Lilisa (new)

Lilisa | 2770 comments Done with the romance (in Reporting thread Marnie) and I'm 30 percent through The Arrow Catcher for Lottery. Reading madly between sleep!

Ooh okie dokie =] I really want to read 'The Handmaid's Tale' I hope you enjoy it =] I son't think I've really read an adult dystopian.. lol I'll get there soon. hehe

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments Sarah - I am going to be driving a lot over the next few days. Found an audio book that I had already loaded into iTunes some time ago
Carrie and Me: A Mother-Daughter Love Story

works great for Have a Baby - mother gives birth - (5 points) - starts off with labor and birth of daughter. Also gives us another 5-pointer for sheet 3.

So sign me up for one more - I may topple before the week is over.

Also A Handmaid's Tale is terrific. Enjoy

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Helen wrote: "Also, A Handmaid's Tale is terrific. Enjoy..."

Agree, one of my favorite books! :)

Happy Toppler Day 4

We are starting today with 150 points and 36 books read!

message 481: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm back! Way too tired to read everything that has been posted, but 36 books read already, that's awesome!

I got around to reading one chapter at the festival, but I'll have no problem finishing the rest of my book this week :)

message 482: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Hi Peggy, how was the festival? Did you manage to stay (a little) dry?

message 483: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments It was great! I stayed mostly dry, but our tent was not so lucky and had some small leaks. No major damage though, fortunately :)

message 484: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Glad you are back Peggy! Nice to hear that you stayed dry, mostly :).

message 485: by Jkmays (new)

Jkmays Just to let you know, my 5 pt. lottery book for List 1 is an audio book, and that will not be done until about Friday. But fear not, I am working on it and it will get done. That's my car book, so it goes slower.

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments We are having a great day and thanks to everyone we are at 179 points.

Angie- I recorded your book Father Found in life 2 - Having a baby but there are many different books with that title. Can you give me the author so I can put the right book down. Thank you also for starting over. The time zones have caused many people to start early/ late- you were definitely not the first.

Tomorrow I will be sitting with a friend at the hospital all day( nbd) so I will not be updating the scores until I get home. I will have many hours to read so I might be able to add a 7th book- fingers crossed.

message 489: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Just a quick check in to say i finished up my (not so) fab vacation, and got that posted to our reporting thread. I' m about half way thru my lose job/get new occupation book. Expect to finish it tonight. I think my next 3 books will be pretty quick reads so i think it looks like i'm on track for the books i' m signed up for.

LooKs like we're racking up the points... great job team and keep up the good work!

Marnie, how does Crooked House fit Turn 16 - car/driving?

message 491: by Marnie (last edited Jun 10, 2014 08:35PM) (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Good question JMom.

Dawn? Can you field this question.

message 492: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1801 comments Other than a fair amount of driving to and from London that occurs in the story.....the car and driving it is a vital point at the end of the story. This may ruin the mystery, so don't read it if you want to read the book (view spoiler)

If this isn't enough, I did give a couple other options for this one I think??

message 493: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Ok. The regular driving to and from London doesn't count, but I'll give it to you for the ending.

message 495: by June (new)

June | 159 comments Sarah,

I finished and reported The Handmaid's Tale. It was really awesome. Just make sure you read the historical notes at the back when you read through.

Peggy,
Welcome back. :) And what's a festival if it doesn't rain, right?

message 496: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments Ah, when I looked yesterday I was convinced that 'read a book where a car or driving plays a part' so had started The Art of Racing in the Rain for it, as I wanted to try and get us a 5 point read.

Ah well, I'll have to take the 'read a book about a dog' slot :)
Should be finished by the end of today but I do have a busy one so it may be tomorrow.

message 497: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3306 comments Lynn- I enjoyed that book and hope you do too.

Dawn- thanks for clearing things up with Jaxnmom- though I did not read your spoiler :)

message 498: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments Enjoying what I've read so far :)

message 499: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hmm I just had a look and all is going well, but I did notice that Helen and Marnie you both read the same book for the exotic pet, I know it's allowed but I think if it's an orignal 5 pointer the second time it's read I think it counts for 3 points. If it was a 3 point book originally it would get 3 points for the second time read. I'm just going to ahve a quick look at the rules, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere..

message 500: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Nevermind ignore me..

Can two team members read the same book for the same task - but in a different round?

Yes. But if the team doesn't make it to a second round, and this is a 5 point task, the second reading will only count for 3 points.
