I read a children's chapter book with periodic black-and-white drawings in it about a civilized mouse who talks and wears clothes. For some reason he becomes ?lost in the wild? and must go natural to survive in the wilderness.

I seem to remember something about him learning to use his teeth and claws as tools and weapons.
