Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Here is where we will nominate books we would like to read in June. Once we have enough nominations (6-7) I will close the nominations thread and set up the poll.

message 2: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Can we suggest a play? I quite fancy some Shakespeare such as A Midsummer Night's Dream but just say, if it has to be a novel, and I won't nominate it :)

message 3: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Yeah Jean that'd be awesome. Go ahead. It can be play or novel. This month is anything goes classics.

message 4: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'd like to nominate the play The Crucible. This was a play that I read in school that was pretty good.

message 5: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Thanks Amber. Yours is a good one too :)

message 7: by Roderick (new)

Roderick Vincent | 34 comments I'll go with "The Crucible" as well...I have it on my bookshelf still unread.

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Awesome guys! Let's wait until we get enough nominations then I'll place them all in the poll so we can vote for what we want to win. I'll end the nominations prob on the 29th so we'll have time to get our votes in.

Roderick Vincent | 34 comments Sounds good to me.

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) so anyone else want to nominate a novel or play? just curious.

Werner | 873 comments I've never read A Midsummer Night's Dream, but I saw it performed live, years ago when I was in college. Before that, I helped with a college production of The Crucible (and of course read the script), and had seen the powerful 1967 TV movie version, with George C. Scott as John Proctor, a few years earlier. We have the texts of both plays at the college library where I work, from which to refresh my memory; so I think I could contribute to discussing either of those.

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Awesome werner. I've seen the film version of midsummer night's dream with Rupert Everett and Michelle Phieffer and Keven Cline in it which was pretty good.

message 13: by Werner (new)

Werner | 873 comments We have at least one film version of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Bluefield College library on DVD, too, though I don't know if it's the Everett one. I'll check on that when the library reopens on Tuesday; right now, we're closed for Memorial Day weekend.

message 14: by Alice (new)

Alice Poon (alice_poon) Can I second A Midsummer Night's Dream? There's going to be a performance of the play in Hong Kong this November and I was thinking of booking tickets (it coincides with the time of my annual home visit). It would be great if I could read this with your guys before I see the play!

message 15: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Go ahead iasa and alice all nominations are going into the poll. So be sure to vote for your fave when it's up.
