SOLVED. Switched at birth - the mother hates the child. [s]

I cannot remember if the main character is a boy or girl. Its a fantasy book, where the main character gets dragged to a mansion type of place where they can be with the rest of their kind. They were switched at birth in some sort of program made by their species, the only person who noticed was the mother and she thought the child was like a demon and absolutely hated the child, to the point where she tried to get rid of it which landed her in a mental institute.
I only read the first few chapters (I grabbed a random book in the library and read part of it without even looking at the title) and so thats why its so vague. I may have gotten some details wrong, but I focused on the main things that I read

Maybe you're refering to Trylle trilogy, by Amanda Hocking. That sounds like the plot from this one. She gets switched and is called a Changeling because they never raise their kids. And the human mother gave birth to a boy, but they put a changeling girl for the human boy, that's why the mother always said she was a demon. Give it a try and see if it's this one.
