MountainKat | 31599 comments Let's reflect on the best and worst of the previous month's books.....

I know I can get so focused on what is next that I forget about all the wonderful books I read for the previous month's challenges! Seriously, how did November get here already?! I'm not joking people, things are going too fast!! But now that we have come off our Halloween sugar highs and before we gear up for Thanksgiving, what did you read last month?

Did you find some gems? DNF a few? Find your new book boyfriend or a heroine who personifies TSTL? Come on, we all want to know! What were your standouts for October?

MountainKat | 31599 comments I've been in a bit of a slump, enjoying what I've been reading but not devouring books as usual. I'm looking forward to seeing what you all loved last month - maybe it will give me new ideas!

I didn't have any books I gave 5 Stars to last month, but several that stood out:

First Star I See Tonight by SEP, another Chicago Stars book!! And the narrator was almost as good as Anna Fields - WIN!

Defy the Dawn by Lara Adrian, love this series and this one had the bonus of so many of the original group appearing as well.

A Scot in the Dark by Sarah MacLean, another wonderful book by this author.

Just What I Needed by Lorelei James, I really love her cowboys but this is a nice change for her. I have really enjoyed this series so far!

Last but not least, with a big thank you to everyone who told me to read this - The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen. My second book by this author and I already love her. YA/NA is not my thing, but when it works it is so very good - this one was good! And well narrated too! Definitely looking forward to more. =)

There were a couple of other really good books, Dungeon Royale and Master of the Dark Side - I just need the audios of these series to come out faster so I can read/listen to more!

The only book that fell a little flat for me was First to Fall by Olivia Blake and I liked that in the end. I mentioned before I am not a fan of YA/NA and this fell right into that arena. It took me forever to get into, but once I did it was ok.

NayNay My favourites were I'll Never Let You Go and Vulnerable

I don't think I had one I thought was bad but if I had to pick one it would be The Other Half it was a story told by wife/mistress I don't agree with infidelity, but it was written well.

Fran | 12278 comments Nothing was fantastic for me in October, but nothing was bad either :)

I think I liked Shielding Lily the best, super sweet.

Connie N. | 1316 comments As expected, Visions in Death (In Death, #19) by J.D. Robb was a 5-star listen for me.
I also loved The Marcelli Bride (Marcelli, #4) by Susan Mallery , which has everything I love in a romance--great characters, a wonderful family support group, some action, and hot scenes!

Runners up at 4.5 stars - Wrong Number, Right Guy (The Bourbon Street Boys, #1) by Elle Casey Zoo Vet Adventures Of A Wild Animal Doctor by David Taylor Always on My Mind (Lucky Harbor, #8) by Jill Shalvis
