The Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts

I'm also currently reading 'The Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts.' Watts writes a hymn for every Psalm! But really it's more of a rewriting of the Psalm in English with the rhyming scheme intact in English. What an amazing concept! I did not think it would be such a devotionally rich book, but as I read it with the Psalms I find it to be one of the best devotional works I have ever read! It's absolutely awe provoking, and I'm really enjoying it! Perhaps this is how the original readers of the Hebrew Psalms felt as they read them!

Also, after purchasing the hardback copy of this, I found that I already owned the Logos version! I had no idea. It must have come in a package somewhere along the line. So if you're interested, check your library first!

Yasmin I have this one, and it looks interesting. I'm at the point of beginning considerations for 2017 devotional reading, so I'm putting this one in the running.

The bulk of my 2016 devotional reading came from Voices from the Past: Puritan Devotional Readings. I got the ebook from Banner of Truth and turned it into a Calendar Devotional for my Logos library. It has been great, and I recommend highly! There's a part two out right now, but only in print. Hopefully, the ebook will follow soon [though I find BoT ebooks on the expensive side!].

Voices from the past looks great! I own it, but have yet to dive in. So many books and not enough time to read them all!
