Leslie Masur | 14 comments This book is a YA book written by an author whose name I cannot remember however I do remember that going into the library and it was in the last part of the alphabet....so I believe the author's name starts with a W. Anyway the plot of the story is about a young girl who flees with her mother's warrior or servant. He trains her to fight and she becomes a really good fighter. I believe she may get reunited with her mother towards the end. Not necessarily a medieval book but maybe belongs in that category of fantasy/medieval. It may have warior in the titles. I know this is probably one of the worst summaries lol. Not a whole lot to go on.

Leslie, your summary is a good starting point. We like to ask questions to help jog people's memories.

What year did you read this YA book?

What makes this a fantasy novel - are there wizards/magic, dragons/creatures, people with unusual powers, etc.?

Why did they have to flee? What happened to her father? It sounds like her family is/was rich or aristocratic.

Also, to help people searching for books, please add a description of your book to the Topic header. (Click "edit" beside the header if you're on the desktop, not mobile, version of the website. Just ask if you'd like some help.)

I believe I may have read the book sometime between 2000-2005.
There are no wizards if I remember correctly or magic. This warrior/servant of her mother's trained her to fight and saved her one time from a group of people who tried to hurt her. She was very stubborn and did not want to leave her mother and tried to go back (I believe). If I am remembering this correctly I think he does die at some point and she does get reunited with her mother and is able to show her how is she now a fighter and grown up.

Also it not a series
