I won't be joining in on this one. I read it last year.

Mixofsunandcloud | 538 comments I'm probably doing this one. I finished October Country a week or so ago.

You can always join in the discussion even if you don't re-read it.

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments Latasha wrote: "I won't be joining in on this one. I read it last year."

Ditto:-). I read this a few years ago, and I don't do re-reads. I'll probably read this thread though.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11974 comments Mod
Thank you nancy. I might. We'll have to see what I can remember about it lol.

I loved The October Country SO MUCH! :)

I have Something Wicked on audio, so I may re-listen along with the group. :)

I can re-read this one....I've only read it once so far. :)

Monica Go | 898 comments I started reading this last year and then abandoned it so I'll definitely be reading it with you guys!

SheriC (shericpm) | 320 comments It's been years since I read this. I'm going to do it on audio this time.

Charlotte Wildflower | 58 comments I have reserved it at my library, and as I am number one now I am quite sure to have it for the november read :-)

I can't remember if I have read it before, but probaby not. Otherwise I'm sure to find out next month.

message 16: by Kate (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate | 3525 comments I'm currently reading Dandelion Wine (Green Town, #1) by Ray Bradbury so I want to finish that before I get started on SWTWC.

Greg | 1680 comments I enjoyed reading The Small Assassin back in 2011 so I'm looking forward to reading Something Wicked This Way Comes. I just bought my copy a couple of weeks ago.

However, I want to finish reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower - in the next few days - before I start on Something Wicked.

aww! I wish too. no one in my family or friends likes plays so I go by myself or not at all.

Graeme Rodaughan I'm looking forward to expanding my experience of Ray Bradbury, I'm pretty sure that the only other book of his that I have read is Fahrenheit 451.

message 24: by Anthony (last edited Oct 31, 2016 07:19PM) (new) - rated it 1 star

Anthony Puyo | 64 comments I'm going to refrain from reading here for a few days. I just ordered my copy of SWTWC, because so many of you have said it was a great read. So I'll finally know what all the fuss is about! Too bad it won't get here till next Monday. :/

Char | 17459 comments My library audio book sucked so I redownloaded my copy of this and I'm good to go for tomorrow. Yay!

message 26: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan I haven't started reading it yet, still progressing through Vampire Wars by Perry Lake but I'll probably finish it by the end of this week, and then I will start Something Wicked This Way Comes (Green Town, #2) by Ray Bradbury

PSXtreme I started Something Wicked This Way Comes (Green Town, #2) by Ray Bradbury on Saturday...finished it last night.

All I have to say about Mr. Bradbury's prose can be summed up with a quote from "Blazing Saddles":

"God darnit, Mr. Lamarr, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore."

Anthony Puyo | 64 comments Char wrote: "My library audio book sucked so I redownloaded my copy of this and I'm good to go for tomorrow. Yay!"

I read the sample on Amazon, it's not enough to say either way, but I have a feeling it will be entertaining.

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 7707 comments Mod
Started my re-read today. As it turns out, I haven't read it in about 3 years, so it will be like re-discovering it again!

LOL It's been a few years since I've seen that movie!

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) I liked the book very much when I read this some time ago.

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 7707 comments Mod
I already finished my re-read--it was just like discovering it for the first time. His prose really transports you into the story!

Heehee, PSX! Ain't that the truth?

Rachel Bea (gekrepten) | 1761 comments My copy has finally come into the library and I can pick it up tomorrow after work. Not sure when I can start it, definitely by the end of next week at the latest. I'm excited because I always wanted to read this!

Quentin Wallace (quentinwallace) | 175 comments I'll probably start this one tomorrow. This is one of those books I've wanted to read for years and just never got around to it. Maybe it was just meant to be that I read it with this group!

Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments I finished several days ago. I enjoyed the story. (view spoiler)

message 38: by Paul (new) - rated it 4 stars

Paul | 1 comments I read this so long ago and just began re-read through audio book copy

love how descriptive introduction of jim and William is. weird though I like Bradbury s language but when koontz gets that metaphorical I just get annoyed

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) I prefer Bradbury, but both Koontz and RB annoy me at least once in their stories. For me, it's about how crap they can be when writing about women, sometimes, but most literature before 2007 by male authors have this issue (I think women writers do better when writing about men, but maybe men don't like the bits about men in female-authored books, idk).

I get it, though, different times, different wiring between the sexes.

That is funny. I have the same problem.

Monica Go | 898 comments I'm not really fond of Bradbury's writing style, it confuses me at times and sometimes I lose myself. MAybe that's why I abandoned the book the first time.

Kasia (kasia_s) | 4513 comments Mod
I just realized it's part of a series, do I have to read Dandelion Wine 1st? I actually just ordered a copy but wasn't sure if I can dive into Something Wicked without reading the prior.

Series
Greentown
Dandelion Wine (1957)
Something Wicked this Way Comes (1962)
Farewell Summer (2006)

Ha, I used to be so bad and start series at book #11 or something like that but now I'm very obsessive over order. Guess Ill check it out when it arrives.

It just takes place in the same town. It is a standalone story.

Phew! That's good to know! I always thought it was a standalone but noticed that Goodreads lists it Green Town, #2.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

I just ordered this. I read Dandelion Wine years and years ago and have always loved Bradbury's writing, but this one got away from me. Apparently a lot of them have! Looking forward to it.

Rachel Bea (gekrepten) | 1761 comments Just got my copy from the library! starting it tonight!

message 49: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan Will Holloway and Jim Nightshade, best friends and mirrors of each other.

SheriC (shericpm) | 320 comments I've started the audio and am loving Christian Rummel's performance. But Bradbury's descriptions are so delicious that I want to stop and savor them, which is hard to do on audio. So I've downloaded the ebook from my library to let myself go back and revisit some sections.
