Thank you all! I will be in and out and not gone for good, for sure! Yes, huge changes in my life at this time but I think it will all turn out well. I’m actually excited for this next step, this new beginning! You’re all awesome!

Out in nowhere land with the snow and bears. I'm excited! I've never been to this part of the country before and this lifestyle is a new one for me. My fiancee says I am going to have to milk my first cow :( I don't know about that one. lol

That’s North Dakota.
Ah, thanks Ruth, it's been awhile since I saw the movie. But I see now on google maps that they are next to each other, so it won't make much difference for temperature and weather I suppose ;-)
I asked, yes his parent’s farm is on the Boundary Waters. You can see the northern lights from their dock. It’s beautiful but yes, cold! Lots of snow!
Awesome life change for you there Heather! Mine is kind of the opposite, moving as I have to a beach ;)

Well, I've always wanted to visit Mexico at some time and even lived in Albuquerque, NEW Mexico but never got down that far. I know you've seen a lot in your lifetime, I do hope you get up there sometime!
Well, I'm home for the day, of course Christmas took a bit of my time away also, everything being so drastically different in my life now. Tomorrow I'm off to Washington state. Yay! I'll post what I can today, see if I can catch up somewhat. LOL
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my art loving friends! Thank you Ker Metanoia! I wish everyone good luck, blessings, and fortune in this year 2019!
Hello all!I am elated at the current activity going on in the group. Those of you who have commented and also you lurkers, thanks for being here!
Now, I don't want to detract anyone from your current interests in the different threads, but I do have a reason for bringing your attention to this. I explained it in the General folder of the "decor" https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... but I will explain in again here as for you to see why I am so interested in this right now.
I'm now in the process of moving to the state of Washington about 45 minutes from Seattle on the coast. It has always been my dream to open a store centered around antiques, art, collectables, furniture, etc. and finally I have a source for the funds I need!
In two weeks there will be an estate auction in a very wealthy neighborhood of a $5 million dollar estate. The items in the auction include pieces from the Ming Dynasty, Queen Anne furniture, and Victorian furniture
Any knowledge you would like to share to help me get to know these styles and pieces would be very helpful to me at the auction as I am attempting to fill my store with pieces of the like.
Well Heather, once more congratulations are in order!Another dream coming true!
What a rollercoaster of changes these last couple of months!
Sadly my knowledge of antiques and furniture is almost nihil, so sorry I can't be of any help here.
But I wish you all the luck with the upcoming auction!

Thank you very much, Dirk!
How exciting, Heather. I have some antiques mixed in with my contemporary things, but they’re family pieces and I’m not very knowledgeable about antiques in general.
I guess you need to ascertain which sell the fastest and whether the store's decor, location and sales staff are best for making the sales. I would include women's jewelry big time. Years ago I did sales of kilims in New England and consistently stores would ask, but do you have jewelry. I would get different jewelry styles, big bangles, filigree material, etc. and see how it goes. Also have a mix of priced items. A few high priced items like a Ming vase, which will awe the customers and they think, ha, I would love to have that but 3,000 bucks, no way, but such a nice store I want to buy something from here, and so they buy that antique lamp for 85. I would stay away from antique cameras, despite being a photographer myself. They simply don't sell. And interestingly enough, a friend in Lansing sold off his mothers inheritance and some of the farm implements from 80 years ago sold well at high prices!!!! But first of all, buy yourself a few antique pricing books that will give you a good idea of what the worth of your purchased items are. And if you have a camera, take pictures of your purchases and put them on ebay.
That is great advise, Geoffrey. I never thought of having jewelry but I will definitely look for it wherever I go and display what I find. Thank you!
Hello everyone! I have to say this: I don’t mean to keep giving you updates on my life especially that which has nothing to do with art at all. But I do want to admit that I love you! And some of you who have been with me for awhile I feel you are like family far away. And others of you who although just added more recently but do comment and are happy for me, I appreciate you, too.
So because I do feel close to you and now you know some of the HUGE changes in my life, here’s another one I’m just dying to share! Yet Another ‘dream come true’ you could say.
At my age I think I’m past bearing children without the much larger chance of them suffering birth defects which chance I don’t want to take. But tomorrow morning I am going to meet my THREE children!!!! I will be a mom to a beautiful 3 year old girl, 4 year old boy and his sister 6 years old. And even better, no strings attached (I.e. no ex, no child support, no joint custody).
Wild story, my husband was a truck driver and actually drove through a little town right after hurricane Katrina. He was stopped and heard a baby crying. He looked up into a tree and a baby car seat was sitting way up in the branches! So he climbed the tree and rescued a tiny infant. He took her to the police and they found that both her parents had died in the hurricane. So his mom adopted her and has raised her for the last 3 years. She knows my husband a little bit. She calls him “bump” but never thought of him as “daddy” until now. His parents are too old to raise more kids but they don’t have any grandkids. Now that we are married, we are taking her. And we don’t want her to be an only child and we want more so we’ve been looking for adopting more. Two nights ago his mom found this brother and sister in Florida and they came here on the plane. I get to meet them in the morning!!!!!!!
Like I said, I don’t know when I will have much time between moving, opening an art gallery, being a newlywed, and full-time mom, but I can’t be happier!
Thank you to any of you who actually just read all that. You are my friends and we all have one thing in common. Keep on keeping on!

Indeed: congratulations, Heather!
I hope you will be able to spend a lot of time with your "new" kids! I wish you and your husband (wonderful story by the way!) a lot of happy times!

Wow, congratulations, Heather! Best wishes on your family and business!
Thank you so much everyone! I really appreciate your encouragement and well wishes, I am a bit overwhelmed, I must admit but excited!Geoffrey, my husband was driving his semi through a town just hit by a hurricane. The parents were killed in it and I’m assuming the baby got thrown up into the tree with the hurricane winds. Yes, what a story!

Wow! What a story, I am so happy to hear that you are realising all your dreams Heather.
Thank you so much again, my friends! And yes “dreams” which are being realized do actually still make me feel like I’m still dreaming and going to wake up soon to my dreary old life again. It’s almost surreal!Interestingly enough, I found a ‘bucket list’ I had written a couple of years ago and on it in just the last few months, I’ve done many things already! And another thing funny about that, I had written that two places I wanted to go in my lifetime are NYC to the museums, and speaking of that, we have plane tickets already to go to NYC in March.
Also to Greece. Well, my husband has a cousin who married a Greek man and they live in Greece and we are going on Mediterranean cruise in July then his cousin bought us a villa in Greece near where he lives in Athens. WOW!
Judy, thank you for the encouragement. I wonder about how good a mom I’ll be going from 0 kids to three now! Thank you so much 😊
A couple of days ago you told us you were going to meet the two older kids in the morning. How did that go?Are they taking it well (moving from Florida to the other side of the country)?
And I'm sure you'll do well as a mother!
They are SO cute! The 6 year old girl ran up and asked “are you going to give us back?” And we said “no, we’re together forever” and she jumped up and said “yay!” And when we had to leave (because we are still in the process of packing and moving so they’re staying with his parents) the 4 year old boy hugged my husbands leg and started crying not wanting us to go. Awwww I love them already!
Wonderful!Love it when you give a bit more details!
(But what are you doing up so late - or is it early?. Here in Antwerp it's afternoon but you must be 7 or 8 hours behind! You should catch some sleep!)

Wow!!! All this great news is wonderful. Hope you are fond of shish kebab and donar. Those are my favorite meats.
Heather wrote: "Wow, anytime I see her posts I delete them. I guess I missed this one. Good riddance!"U deleted them before I could re read them. Shucks!!! I do recall someone posting some highly negative material on the message threads. It's a shame that someone with so much ambition in the arts, never got recognized for the talent she never had in art school.
