DoodlePanda Hello! I just joined :D
I'm 35 years and from Norway. I like to read mostly fiction, my favourite genres are sci-fi, fantasy and horror.
I have in the last couple of years discovered reading challenges, and when I found this group I thought I would give it a go!
I am also hoping that it will pull me out of the reading slump I have been having the last month...
Looking forward to trying it out!

message 1504: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5 comments Hello hello everyone!

I'm Eldarwen, or just E, and I've been eyeing this challenge for a while so I guess this has been a long time coming. (And then there some persuasive people hinting that I should... hehe.)

There is no way I will ever finish it because I just don't read that many books but I like the idea of this challenge and the incredible work and precision that goes into the tasks and books read for them. And in the end it's all about the fun, right? :-)

Technically, I read a range of different genres, but in practice, I'm often stuck on fantasy. I just love it and it's my go-to genre whenever I don't know what else to read or when I can't decide. A good synopsis will get me interested in almost anything though. And I do love a good crime novel every now and then.

It's a lot to take in at first but it looks fun! So off I go to check out the tasks in detail.

message 1508: by Firefly (new)

Firefly | 5 comments Because there are so many Andreas already, I would like to use Firefly.

message 1509: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Hello,
I have been on good reads awhile but have not taken part in many of the groups, I have so many books I am always trying to read and this sounded like a fun way to work on my TBR piles! I have no idea how well I will do or if I will rack up many points but it does give me some incentive to keep reading.

Melissa

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Hi, Melissa .... I never finish, but I have cleared quite a few books from the tbr! Hope you have fun here.

Karolyn | 42 comments Hello! I'm Karolyn and a man a challenge addict. Someone in NBRC recommended this group and I'm going to give it a try. I'm in my 30s and live in America. I mostly read non-fiction and historically fiction, but will read about anything for a challenge.

Hi, Karolyn ... one of the great things about this challenge is that there are SOooo many places to fit in books you want to read. Of course, if you want to finish you'll have to stretch your reading comfort level, but that's all part of the fun.

message 1513: by Laura (new)

Laura | 31 comments Hello all!

I'm Laura, currently doing my Master's and lately I've really been needing a kick in the butt to keep up my reading habit instead of being consumed by Uni; so I'm hoping these challenges will be it! (even if I can't complete too many).

I love sci-fi the most and historical fiction the least, but will read in pretty much any genre as long as the book sounds interesting :)

message 1514: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments Check out the genre recommendations. Most helpful and organized.

Hello, everyone. I'm Slytherpuff and decided to rejoiu=n this group even though I am still nervous about posting correctly.

message 1516: by Erica (new)

Erica | 154 comments Hi. I'm Erica and I just joined because I love seasonal challenges. I read fairly slowly and find I can't keep up with monthly challenges a lot of groups use. Having a full season to plan appeals to me.
I live in northeastern Illinois near lake Michigan. I'm 53 and married with 2 kids, a stepson, 2 daughters-in-law, one grandson and one amazing Russian Blue cat named Pepper.
I have multiple hobbies in addition to reading - knitting, stitching, baking bread, yoga, running, piano and studying foreign languages. Keeps me busy! I love many genres of books, my favorites probably being YA, historical fiction, mystery and fantasy. I really look forward to participating in this group!

message 1517: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1558 comments Welcome Erica! So glad to have another reader who like H. Fiction and Fantasy! I too like this challenge as I can read at my own pace-I have never come close to finishing this challenge, but I have fun running the race~

message 1521: by Megan (new)

Megan (mrmorreale) | 3 comments Hi everyone. I'm excited to get started with this challenge!

I'm a big fantasy / sci-fi / horror fan that wants to re-discover a love of books in other genres. I've been stuck in a bit of a reading rut, and I'm hoping this will help get me out.

Looking forward to meeting new people and making new Goodreads friends :)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1558 comments Welcome Megan! This is my fourth season and my reading has exploded! Good luck!

message 1523: by Teri (new)

Teri Kettelle Hi my name is Teri and I am 48 years old. I have recently rediscovered my love of reading. I also have a passion for cooking and baking. I joined this challenge to expand the genre of books I read. I tend to be super competitive, mostly with myself, and this seems to be a healthy outlet for that. So it's a win win! I look forward to getting to know my fellow readers!

Welcome, Teri! I've been doing this challenge for about a year and a half, and it has done for me exactly what you want it to do for yourself. It helps me read books I would have otherwise never picked up, and that is such a gift. Enjoy!

message 1526: by Alison (new)

Alison Hi Everyone, My name is Alison and I am really excited about joining this group and getting started on the Summer 2019 Reading Challenge! I love to read History/ Sci-Fi/ Fantasy/ Romance books and am looking to expand into other genres that I don't normally read. I have been participating in the Popsugar Reading Challenge this year (which is where I learned about this group) and also just started following the Great American Read. I look forward to getting to know my fellow readers!

Stephanie gravell (stephgravell) Hi Everyone!
I’m Stephanie from Texas. I’m a 30 year old wife, mom and travel agent. I’ve always loved books, but have definitely rekindled my passion on the last year now that my kids are getting past the baby stage and more independent.
My favorite books are the Outlander series and The Nightingale.
Outside of reading I LOVE to travel. Although I will travel just about anywhere I love hot, sunny places or our family’s favorite place to visit, Disney!
I recently joined a book club and then stumbled upon this challenge group. Im excited to try out my first challenge with some good summer reading!

message 1530: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Michele (lindsaymichelereadsandtells) | 19 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Lindsay. I am 25 years old and currently a podiatry student in NYC. Reading is what has kept me sane throughout high school, college, and now podiatry school. I recently got into challenges within the last month and it has pushed me to read more than usual! I look forward to reading with all of you!

message 1531: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments Goodreads is a GREAT site! Especially the genre section! Books are my imaginary playmate but I'm no kid!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Hello there! I may have introduced myself already, but I'm trying to become more active. :) My name is Maggie, and I'm a librarian mom of two from Muskoka. I have loved books for as long as I can remember, and my day just isn't complete without reading a chapter or three! Besides devouring a good book, my hobbies include singing, hiking, writing, and baking. I don't have a favourite genre, but I do tend to finish novels with some family drama quicker. ;) I look forward to making new friends and getting some excellent recommendations.

message 1533: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1558 comments Hi Maggie-We are in PBT together! These are the only 2 challenges I do, but am looking for another one to start in January-Any suggestions? I tried Pop Sugar this year, but I really did not like a lot of the challenges, so I let it go.

This group here is a competitive group, and not as social as PBT-but it is a good mix for me-hope it works for you!

message 1534: by Katerina (new)

Katerina Hi everyone!

My name is Katerina, I'm 31 y. o., originally from Latvia, but currently living in Switzerland. I'm obsessed with second-hand books - not only reading but also Bookcrossing them ( if you don't know what's Bookcrossing - check it out here: www.bookcrossing.com). I love meeting with my bookish friends to swap, share, buy and discuss books on at least a monthly basis.
My favorite genre would probably be historical, but I love books from any genre, provided that I can relate to the characters and the narration is interesting. I read in English and in Russian.
Apart from reading, I love cross-stitching, watching Nexflix series, writing letters and gardening. I love everything Hygge, and I hope this challenge will let me experience the Hygge of each season of the year more in depth. Looking forward to it!

message 1535: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1558 comments Hi Katerina! Thanks for sharing the Bookcrossing information! I was doing this a few years ago, but life got crowded...and I just stopped! I am going to re-join and start again thanks to you!

message 1536: by Korinne (new)

Korinne Elston | 2 comments Hello all!

I am Korinne. I have always loved reading, and still do but have found myself in a slump of no reading. I hope this group helps me reach out and try new genres and topics I otherwise wouldn't have chosen! Summer seemed like the perfect time to start a competitive reading challenge so here I am!

message 1538: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 163 comments Hello all! I'm Sarah. I'm 33, from Ohio, and this year I've become addicted to reading challenges. Even though I've already started more of them than I can hope to finish, I couldn't resist adding one more. My favorite genres are fantasy, scifi, and horror, but I'll read just about anything if it looks interesting enough. Excited to take a look at the tasks and see what jumps out at me!

message 1539: by Helen (last edited Oct 03, 2019 11:07AM) (new)

Helen | 84 comments Hello! I am Helen, 65 this year, in Northern California. I enjoy a variety of books, reading about 3 each week. I am interested in joining these challenges. How do I get to the challenge pages? Please send me a link! Thanks!

My Readerboard name is HELEN A.

P.S. I have been a reader since I was a girl, reading the Nancy Drew and Cherry Ames series. I am a retired School Psychologist, who worked with inner-city kids and their parents and teachers.

I spend my non-reading time pursuing five interests: 1) Animals: I have two cats and three parakeets. I volunteer at the Front Street Animal Shelter with the cats coming into the shelter. 2) Puzzles: I enjoy working word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and computer-game puzzles like Mah Jongg solitaire 3) Toastmasters: I attend one club weekly, giving and listening to interesting speeches 4) Square dancing: I attend a club weekly to learn this, and 5) Writing letters. I am one of the dinosaurs who cherishes sending and receiving snail-mail letters. I color my own, so they are little "works of art"!

I enjoy watching the progress of everyone in this challenge, and hope to get to know you better, over time!

Helen ... here's a LINK to the current season's tasks

You should read through all the rules, FAQs, etc before beginning! AND, you must request a unique readerboard name as well.

Have fun!

Rhonda Hi, everyone! My name is Rhonda. I am 52 years old and live in the Houston area. I've been married for 29 years and have a college-age son and daughter. Son is attending locally and daughter is at an out-of-state school. I homeschooled my children through high school and am now a substitute teacher for our local school district.

I love reading and have become addicted to reading challenges since becoming active on Goodreads a few years ago. They are helping me get through the huge pile of unread books I own. I found this group by searching for reading challenges and it seems perfect for me!

I'm really looking forward to participating, even though I doubt I can actually finish the challenge within a season. I'm putting that down as a "someday" goal. :)

Sarah Ruth (smurf_bunny) Hello! I'm Sarah, and I'm thrilled that I found this challenge just in time for the new season! I just recently got back into the habit of reading regularly (finally have time!!) and I'm hoping the challenge will push me to seek out new books to read and find new genres, authors, etc.

Excited to get started!!

message 1547: by Giovanna (new)

Giovanna Tanzi | 7 comments Hi everybody! I am Giovanna, I am 26 years-old and I am Italian, but I am currently living in Ireland (Dublin).

I have been living and working around Europe for the past 3 years, and a lot has changed in my life since I left my beautiful country!
However, the passion for books has never died. Thanks to them I have learnt many languages (because I don't like reading translations, unless it is necessary!). My grandpa was able to pass down to his love for literature, thanks to the first book he gave me about 3 twins who grew up in Turkey and at the end of the book found out to be the Sultan's sons.

I like historical books, novels, fictions, mystery and thrillers etc., let's say everything apart from fantasy. I normally read 3 books at a time: a fiction, a non-fiction and poems.

I am a member in several nook clubs and I couldn't resist when I saw this group regarding challenges! Amazing group, ideas and organisation!

Simone (simonec75) Hey everyone! I'm still a bit overwhelmed, but I will jump in and see how it goes.
I'm a 44-year-old mom of 3 human babies (a girl - 8, a boy - almost 7, and a boy - 4) and two fur babies (a chiweenie and a yorkie-chihuahua mix). We are a military family currently living in Alabama. I love reading mystery/suspense, nonfiction, retellings, true crime, and dystopian/postapocalyptic novels. I 'm looking forward to this challenge!
