Yen Toh Hi I'm Yen.. I'm actually living in Australia, so it's not really fall for me. But it sounds like a fun challenge! First challenge for me :)
I'm currently studying part-time, to obtain my Masters in Library and information studies. hopefully I'll have enough time to read outside of school!

Mhairi | 348 comments Hiya, I'm Mhairi, I'm 31 and I live in Scotland. I'm a teacher, volunteer, and a book fanatic! I'm guilty of buying books all the time , and I always have problems deciding what to read, so I'm really looking forward to taking part in my first Seasonal Challenge!

message 1103: by Nephele (new)

Nephele Tempest (ntempest) | 3 comments Hi, I'm Nephele, and I live in Southern California. I work in publishing, so I actually spend a huge portion of my time reading for my job, including a lot of unpublished material, so when it comes to personal reading time, I always feel a little desperate. There are so many things I want to read and I tend to spin my wheels trying to decide where to start. So I thought this challenge sounded like a fun way to help focus my reading choices a bit and make a dent in my enormous TBR pile at the same time.

message 1104: by Erin (new)

Erin (ezridar03) Hi, I'm Erin from Caledonia, WI. I just heard about the Seasonal Reading Challenge group and it sounds like a lot of fun. I work full time in Healthcare IT. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, stepson and our four dogs. I do obedience, agility and flyball with our youngest dog. I love to read and have a very large TBR list. I enjoy shuffling randomly and reading the top book as my next book. When not doing any of these things, I also enjoy quilting.

message 1105: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments Hi, new members! I enjoy doing searches according to genre. For example, i'm from new England originally, so I'll do a search on that genre and a number of authors and titles pop up. The same would be for religion, French lit and historical fiction - all of which I like. Also, if you do a search by author, you can see what works remain to be read and get a little window on the plot without a spoiler. None of us have time to waste!

message 1106: by Faith (new)

Faith Kilgore (feniixxrising) | 3 comments Hi! I'm Faith. 30. Central California. I am recovering from brain surgery right now, which has slowed down my reading. I love to read, the most I've read in one year is 485 books. I LOVE paranormal and paranormal romance, classics, all kinds of books really.... but witches, vampires, weres, pixies, fairies.... haha! They've got a spot in my heart.

message 1107: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer WolfSchwallie (wolfschwallie) | 3 comments Hi, I'm WolfSchwallie and I read more than anyone I personally know (but not as much as some people here!). My two biggest hobbies are reading and listening to music. I also like my spouse, our dogs and chickens, and being creative in any form I can. I am awaiting a decision on my medical retirement due to health issues, and am trying new lifestyle choices to improve my well being. This challenge sounds like fun.

message 1108: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 16 comments Hi.
My names Anita, and I only just joined this group.
I love reading challenges, and are pretty active in other groups.
As Jennifer I read more than anyone I personally know. It's not something I've always done, but discovered the passion of escaping into another world through my reading when I was around 20 and read my first Harry Potter book.
I'm currently 'almost' 28 years old. Turning 28 the 19th of September.
Apart from reading I love to watch sports and listen to music, as well as going out with my friends.

I'm gonna read the rules for these challenge task and get working.

message 1109: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (boekenwormmom) | 3 comments Hello my name is Annabel, I'm 30 years old and I'm from the Netherlands. I have two beautiful daughters and I work part-time.
I love to read and I saw this challenge posted by someone on facebook and decided to join in on the fun. It's my first time and I'm really excited.

Faith, I wish you a speedy recovery. And, by the way, reading 485 books in one year is incredible!

Bea Annabeth wrote: "So can sum1 help me out about wat happens???like evrythin?"

Annabeth, I assume you are most familiar with texting as I find your shorthand typing hard to understand. However, if you are asking how to participate, I suggest reading these threads first: The Rules, The Rewards, and Posting Requirements.

Then go to each task, read it and start selecting a book(s) to read to complete the task. ENJOY!

message 1112: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments Would it be OK for people to say how old they are? I am 65 and like to connect with people my own age and people younger also. Also, where people are from is good because your background can influence how you interpret lit, at least that is my opinion!

message 1113: by Rita (new)

Rita Hi, I'm Rita. I live in South Florida and am looking forward to the challenge. I'm married, mom of three, two living at home, three fur babies and am 45 years old.

message 1114: by HeatherMarie (new)

HeatherMarie (heathermariereads) Hi I'm Heather from Fort Worth. I love to read...anything. Heard about this challenge from BookRiot and it looks amazing! Can't wait to get started!

message 1115: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hallo Everyone! I'm Jenn and from Northern Arizona. I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading, and usually have at least 5 books going at any given time. I also heard about this challenge from Book Riot. It sounds like a lot of fun/work, but I'm going to give it my best shot. I've printed up the tasks and will start working on it immediately. After having foot surgery last week, I have a lot more "down" time that needs to be filled. This will be fun!

Kasia (stasia94) I also heard about this challenge from Book Riot :)

message 1119: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments What is book riot? When you go on vaca without a kindle and realize that the books you did bring are boring, boring, boring?

message 1120: by Donna M (new)

Donna M Donna S
I'm a librarian at a small branch of a large public library system. This year I haven't read many books and my to read list is starting to get unmanageable. I love challenges. When I heard about this challenge I figured it was the one thing that could save me from having an embarrassing low number of books finished in 2014.

message 1121: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Curran Ligeras | 54 comments I also found this on Book Riot, hooray! I'm Margaret, I live outside New York City and I'll be 29. I'll pretty much read anything. This is my first time doing a challenge unless you count library summer reading programs, but I love lists and I'm super excited!

Becca (lupingirl) | 5 comments Jane wrote: "What is book riot? When you go on vaca without a kindle and realize that the books you did bring are boring, boring, boring?"

Haha! :D

It's a website with book reviews and articles and opinion pieces about reading. http://bookriot.com/

Cynthia (Bingeing On Books) (bingeingonbooks) My name is Cynthia and I also discovered this group through Book Riot! Haha

I am originally from Atlanta, but my husband and I are currently living in Naples, Italy (he is a civilian worker for the Navy). I love reading and I am so excited for this challenge!

Lindsey (_lindsey_) | 498 comments LOL...it was a good article Rachel; I actually just read it yesterday! I had never heard of the site before, so after seeing it mentioned several times here by new members, I googled "seasonal reading challenge bookriot." Welcome!

And welcome all new members!

Lisa M | 58 comments Hello! Another Book Riot reader who found her way here. I had no idea this existed on Good Reads and I am in awe of the complexity of this challenge but I love that it has three month cycles - lots of time to try and get through many tasks. I spent hours last night reading my way through all the threads.

My name is Lisa, 29 and I live in New Zealand. Love to read - I have no favourite genre I like to read everything :)

message 1127: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments Great - someone my son's age. Where is New Zealand anyway?

Hi everyone! I too am a Book Riot reader and when I read the article earlier this week, I decided to give this challenge a try. I have a lot of unread books on my bookshelves, so hopefully I can get through some of those. I'm pretty excited about this challenge, though some of the tasks seem challenging.

I'm 23 and I live in the DC area.

I can't wait to see what everyone else decides to read over the next few months!

Kritika (kriti1d) | 30 comments Hi I am Kritika - 25 yrs from India. I am addicted to books. I started reading novels when I was 9. I have a mini library at home. I love the smell of the paper, the sound of the pages wants me buy more and more. Happy to be part of this group :)

message 1134: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisa_diane) Hi, Everyone! My name is Lisa (LisaPizza on the readerboard), and this will be my first time doing the challenge! What I lack in experience, I make up for in blind enthusiasm. I'm starting a master's in education in a month; I'm going to be an English teacher. We'll see how enthusiastic I am about things when I have piles of work on my desk later this fall! Lovely to meet you all.

message 1135: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckymurr) Hi my name is Becky, & I too found out about this on Book Riot! Why have I never heard of it??? I leave in north eastern New York state & I am a book addict!

message 1136: by Jen (new)

Jen (jen_alluisi) Hello, I'm Jen. I'm 36 years old and live in central Virginia with my husband, daughter (who will be 2 next month), and 2 dogs. I am a lifelong reader and bibliophile, as I imagine most people in this group are. My hometown happens to be the same town that the leader, Cynthia, lives in, though I don't think we know each other (but libraries there greatly shaped my life). I was an English major in college and have a master's degree in education, and I am a former middle school language arts and gifted resource teacher. I currently work in nonprofit management, primarily conference planning, certification exams, mentoring program, training programs, and online learning for professional membership associations. In my free time, I organize a local book club through Meetup, and I volunteer on various committees for the Virginia Festival of the Book. I heard about this group on the BookRiot website, which I read regularly. I'm a little bit nervous about having time to pay attention to the Challenge because it seems a bit overwhelming and there are so many people! But I'm going to give it my best shot :)

message 1137: by Macwolf01 [Elise] (new)

Macwolf01 [Elise] (macwolf01) Hi, my name is Elise, I'm 42 and live in Toronto, ON Canada. I have 4 cats & 2 birds and am most happy answering to the holler of "Auntie".

Love to read and do challenges, I'm a little behind on my goal of 100 books in 2014 so looking forward to this challenge pushing me along.

I also heard about this group on the BookRiot website, although I am a regular Goodreads participant.

message 1138: by Diane (new)

Diane (didi3023) | -18 comments Hello, my name is Diane from Wisconsin and I work part time at our local library. I have not done one of these challenges before and do not know if I can manage it with my other responsibilities but I would like to try!

I read a lot and am involved in a number of book clubs, including one that I moderate on Goodreads. I love reading a variety of genre and I see this as an opportunity to expand on my selections.

message 1139: by Wellington (new)

Wellington (stenella) Thanks Cynthia!!

My name is Dana and I am a marine bioligist. I read a lot and when I heard about this it seemed like something very interesting. I thought it would be a great way to expand my reading and give me new ways to think about what I read.

message 1140: by Arwen (new)

Arwen Craig (evenstar243) Hello! My name is Arwen, I've been addicted to reading ever since my mom read A Wrinkle in Time to me when I was 7. I'm an oncology nurse in Delaware where live with my husband and our pets. I enjoy reading (obviously), watching sports, and going to the movies.

message 1141: by Tricia (new)

Tricia | 2 comments Looks like a lot of people are coming here from Rachel's article on Book Riot. I'm only a sorta Goodreads user. I track my books here, but haven't really gotten into the social aspect.

My name is Tricia. I'm 25, from New England, and largely read SciFi/Fantasy and YA books. I've been experimenting more this last year with books outside my comfort zone, and book challenges seem to be the easiest way to do that.

message 1142: by S.L. (new)

S.L. Berry I saw it too this morning on Book Riot.

message 1143: by EShay (new)

EShay Fagan (eshay11) | 569 comments Hello everyone! My name is Erin and I also made my way here from Book Riot. They have a great book podcast if you like listening about the latest book news. I am a pilot and I live in the San Antonio, TX area. This group combines a few of my favorite things: Reading, personal challenge, and friendly competition. I probably won't be finishing any challenges anytime soon, but I'm hoping this will help me up my reading game. Thank you to the moderators for how much work this obviously takes! Now off to read!

message 1144: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (wurdnurd) Rachel wrote: "Hi everyone! I'm Rachel and I WROTE the article on Book Riot :). Glad to see so many people joining in from my piece. I'm 31 and I live in Brooklyn."

I'm here because of your article, but I'm sorry to say I only read about the first paragraph before I was all, "clickity-clickity, FIND THAT GROUP!!" I'm sure the article was lovely and informative, and thanks for the tip!!

message 1145: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (wurdnurd) So I'm Sarah and I work part-time as a Librarian, and part-time in a tech support call center (guess which job I'm trying to make full-time? you get two guesses). Right now, I have 27 books checked out from the library, about 7 of which are partially read, and I keep being distracted by doing cross-stitch or teaching myself crochet while binge-watching Star Trek: TNG. I'm hoping this will get me back on track to finish this stack of books before my holds list gets too out of hand :D

message 1146: by Jane (new)

Jane De vries | 74 comments To Erin, I went to San Antonio as a tourist many years ago. Surprised to see how small the Alamo really is.To Sarah, I just got back from the library with my new author, Peter Mayle, Chick lit with a French twist. Have some other books half read and my audio books which help preserve my sanity while doing boring stuff. Read away!

message 1147: by Sarah (new)

I've read Chasing Cezanne, A Dog's Life and (of course) A Year in Provence. I like his style, lots of lighthearted randomness...

Suzanne (perletwo) | 1586 comments Late to the party as usual, but i only just discovered this. I'm Suzanne, 43 (44 in late Sept.) & live in GA (US, not Russia). Currently unemployed for health reasons & enjoying having the reading time. I've never done a GR Seasonal Challenge, so we shall see...

message 1149: by Tara (new)

Tara (taraj16) Hi, I'm Tara and this is my first official book challenge. I hope I can manage to get a little more out of my reading time for the fall. I've been a real slacker lately.

Trying to understand this... Sounds interesting.... Not sure I'd want to make my OCD side get involved though... I presume its ok to read in a non-competitive manner ?
