We all have our limits in certain books. For example that Sebastian book has a huge age difference between H and h and I loved the series! This one was just meh...

I loved Tastes Like Candy, and that had a huge age gap, although it was OMYW. But the characters were much better for me in TLC. I felt the h in TIOY was weak and I didn't connect with her. So it was partly about the characters, not just the age gap.

I also loved The Fall which was OWYM, but the age group wasn't as ridiculously big as TIOY, and again, the characters were more interesting.

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I agree with the connection of the characters in tioy. There wasn’t much at all. It was all about perception of others.

Nay (4ukcats) Is anyone besides me having these stinking GR ads open a new page simply by running your cursor across it (when you're using a computer)?

message 2005: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I don’t use a computer, iPad all the way for me. So I don’t t get the adds. Try running malware removal program.

I usually use my laptop, but I'm not having any issues.

Leslie | 2430 comments Hey Melinda & Jan, my son is obsessed with international snacks and right now is into Tim Tams. He wanted me to ask you guys if you do anything special with them?! We thought they'd be delicious crushed up in ice cream.

My son is so funny...he loves learning about other cultures and thinks it's awesome I have book buds all over world.

I only use my phone. No issues with that.

Nay (4ukcats) After I posted last night, I did run my malware removal, cleared my cache, everything I could think of. The ads are still there--these are the ones that GR puts on all their pages now--but they no longer have the little white box at the top right corner that reads "ad". If my cursor got anywhere near that box, a new page would open and it was driving me batty!

How annoying! GR is my safe place and I dont want to be bombarded with ads!!! I swear I can barely do anything on Pinterest as anything I try to read turns into bazillion ads.

Leslie--Is he doing Universal Yums? My youngest son and I have been ordering those since March, and we're loving them!

message 2012: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Annoying is right. I was trying to help an author get her covers changed, and it seem like every time I moved my cursor at all, I had a new page opening.

It's bad enough that we now get those cluttered pages with the ad across the top that make the page jump and if you click too early on the book title (or if you're not super accurate with where you click), you end up clicking on the ad and being redirected to Amazon.

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Leslie, yes we have Tim Tams on Ice Cream. We use them in deserts. They are great crushed up As a base for a cheesecake too.

In Australia we have heaps of chocolates and biscuits.

Far more than any other country I have been to.

We have a whole isle dedicated to lollies and chocolates.

Look up Arnotts biscuits and chocolate teddy bears
And orange cream, Monte Carlo, Kingston, iced Vovos
Delta cream, scotch finger biscuits, ginger snaps, Anzac biscuits, Marie biscuit, biscottis, wagon wheel biscuits are delicious, granita biscuits, raspberry short cakes.

There’s heaps more but that’s just off the top of my head.

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Leslie try a tim tam ice cream sandwich delicious.

Put a tim tam on the bottom ice cream I. Between the tim tam on top and freeze. Yum

You can add fruit too like strawberry or mangoes. Yum

Catia (kookay) | 197 comments Can you send them to Portugal ? :) Just kidding

message 2017: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) One classic way to serve tim tams is to dip them in your hot drink (ie coffee) then kinda suck out the melty deliciousness from the centre then just eat them. Your son may not be into coffee, though.

They are one of the most popular chocolate biscuits in Australia. (We call cookies biscuits here).

message 2018: by Leslie (new)

I do that with biscotti or even just regular choc chip cookies. I like that you call them biscuits! My son does not drink coffee but he will enjoy hearing how you eat your tim tams! 🙂

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments OMG I FORGOT MY MOST FAVOURITE IN THE WHOLE WHOLE WORLD IS CALLED MINT SLICE.

what do you think Jan? What’s your favourite?

I might send you some of them too. You’ll be messaging me saying. Send more.

message 2026: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments No clue what milo or mint slice is. 🤔...but anything mint is delicious. Just having my coffee now and wish I had something yummy to dip. We have a specialty grocery store here called Trader Joe's (well, not in my town but within driving distance) and they sell a big tub of cookies called Dunkers. They are thin, oblong shaped, choc chip cookies that are perfect shape for dunking. I am out...but those are so good.

message 2027: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments You just wait Leslie.

Milo is a chocolate drink. I think it’s malt chocolate and you can drink it hot or cold. They even have Milo cereal it’s very popular here. Great for dipping biscuits into.

Renee are you using Google Chrome? I believe you can adjust this from your web browser in settings. It can be under privacy or pop-ups, content settings, depending upon what you use. I had something similar only certain words were dbl. underlined and if I even got close to them, they would pop open. It was almost impossible to get through reading a page of anything without them opening up over an over. Major pain the butt.

Thanks, Teri! Yes, I use Chrome. I found the place you're talking about, but I don't know what to look for under 'privacy' or 'pop-ups' or 'content'. I looked at all 3 and every tab for each, and everything looks okay, BUT...

Your posting this made me remember that when I was doing something on my laptop yesterday, Chrome closed for some reason and when I opened it again, my "recently closed" group of tabs in my history weren't available for me to click on (each website was there, but they weren't grouped together like they usually are). Also, when I brought up Chrome again, my pre-set tabs didn't come up like they usually do.

So I emptied my Chrome cache (I thought it had emptied when I did the malware and virus scans yesterday, but I still had a shitload of stuff in the cache), and then I restarted my computer. When I did so, my normal pre-set tabs came up, but then I got interrupted, so I never thought to check to see if a swipe of my mouse was still automatically bringing up those ads. I just checked it, and now I have to click on them for them to open, so I guess when I cleared Chrome and restarted my computer, that fixed everything. (either that or GR did something after I sent them the message.)

If it happens again, I'll ask more about what you did to correct it when you were having a problem. Thanks!! ❤️️

Jan (jan130) Yeah Melinda, Mint Slice are pretty darned good. Smooth dark chocolate enclosing a kind of mint sandwich biscuit. One of my sons really loves those. I think my fav is just the classic Tim Tam. But really, I try not to eat chocolate biscuits too much. The old moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips thing :(

Nay (4ukcats) Happy Birthday, Michele!! 🎂🎈🎆🍷🍰🍹🍻

And I'm so sorry, Tessa. I came here to post and saw that I typed a message for your birthday last Saturday, but I never hit "post". This seems to be a common occurrence for me lately on all platforms, but I'll blame the porch cleaning. So anyway, Happy belated Birthday, Tessa!
