Am very bad at recommending books, as my tastes may vary.
But Moloka'i is a gripping read, provided you dont get aversion at the description of diseases.

Okay here it goes then. This is what I liked last year.
Ordinary Grace
The House of the Spirits
Making Faces
Homegoing
The Good Earth
Let the Right One In
Gone with the Wind
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
Room
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Written in Red (these books are my guilty pleasure. With final book coming out in March, this will be a complete series)
Theft of Swords (not grimdark like Martin or Abercrombie, or epic like Sanderson but its total fun)
Daughter of Smoke & Bone(have read only first book but love whatever I have read. Planning to pick remaining two books this year.)
And for Ini only because a girl should read some fluff/fun.;)
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
Kulti
Knitting the city series by Penny Reid.
Phew! Fulfilled my quota of recommendations for this year.
Don't know how many have you read.
