Good morning buddy.... Had a restful vacation yesterday.. slept, ate and slept again.. :-) how was ur day? how much done in IT?

I started second part in Study in scarlet. Its some flashback it seems.. little dragging.. hoping to be done with it today...

I'm already planning to read Making faces manu... but it's also related to war right? So slightly postponed.. may be after 3-4 books...

(view spoiler)[I loved the way the sufferings and misery of the jews was written in a simple manner, thereby making us not feel too grim yet emphasizing the sufferings... I generally feel depressed and sad reading such books but this didnt make me feel too depressed.Scene-wise, I loved the way Aldo saved Eva's life, Felix sacrificing himself proudly rather than surrendering, Eva saving Mario's family and how Eva and Pierre was saved and transported to Belgium seemed a miracle showing that there are good and brave people in Germany as well..

Another thing I loved in the book was the quotes regarding life... I'm planning to re-read in future just for those quotes... One about life, pain in life, how sand and ash makes glass... like that.. And the few quotes about God.... I dont remember all those quotes.. But I remember what was that about... (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[true, she didn't go in to gory details. kept it to minimum and yet was able to convey the sadness and pain. And i think it was beautiful. I also loved how she showed the struggle that Aldo went through. picking religion or the girl.

then there was the scene where a woman told Germans who were Jews just by greeting them. that scene disturbed me.

writing is simple yet beautiful.
