Jeanette - you're not dim. If your looking on some devices it isn't that clear and books aren't crossed out. The first section lists the books available then it says that some are waiting to be submitted - these are not available.

I believe that it doesn't eat them, but takes you to a previous page of comments for some reason so you always need to check on what page that you're on. I noticed that, too so checking on what page you're on helps.
