NetGalley

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge

Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

But Wait, There's More

Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?

Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!

Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!

The next Review Weekend is set for October 15th & 16th

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 1142 comments I was able to get over the 80% threshold last month, so I'm hoping to keep pushing to get that ratio up even higher!!

Madeline (maddyd51) 1. Beginning of the month:

a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf: 25

b: What books are on your NG shelf

I made it through the books from May and only have one more from June! This month I'd like to conquer the June and July books on my shelf:

First Comes Love by Emily Giffin Learning to Swear in America by Katie Kennedy The Last One by Alexandra Oliva Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies by Laura Stampler Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

I'll count the ones from August and September as a bonus if I get to them this month:

The One Man by Andrew Gross The Ones by Daniel Sweren-Becker

c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is: 74%

2. End of the month:

Read and reviewed:

First Comes Love - Review
Learning to Swear in America - Review
The One Man - Review
The Last One - Review
Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies - Review

c: Your updated shelf count: 24
d: Your updated books to read:
Here are the next five I'd like to tackle. This would cover me through a couple very old ones I've been ignoring and through the beginning of August publication dates.

Reflection The Stranger in the Mirror (Records of the Ohanzee #1) by Rachel R. Smith The City of Mirrors (The Passage, #3) by Justin Cronin Dark Matter by Blake Crouch A Hundred Thousand Worlds by Bob Proehl Poisoned Blade by Kate Elliott

e: Your updated ratio: 75%

I have to say that knowing I was reporting in by tomorrow made me motivated to finish those last two reviews this month! There is one less book on my shelf (even though I added some) and my percentage is up one point, so I'm counting October as a win.

message 26: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Unfortunately I think this challenge has made my NetGalley addiction worse. Talking about it and seeing the books other people have just encourages me to go on more and once I'm there I can't resist.

Kristie | 3595 comments I just read and reviewed One to Five One Shortcut Recipe Transformed Into Five Easy Dishes by Ryan Scott . It was a really great cookbook.

Unfortunately, they only offered the pdf and not the Kindle version. I need to remember how to get it onto my Kindle before it archives, because once it archives it is lost from my collection and I can no longer access it or try out recipes.

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Kristie I've still not figured out how to get them onto my kindle. I tend to just save them onto my laptop. Although the last recipe book I got was a bit all over the place. Even as a pdf it was a struggle to follow the recipes.

message 40: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I've transferred other books from my laptop (Adobe Digital) to my Kindle before, but not from NetGalley and I don't remember how I did it. I'll have to look into it.

Do you save yours differently? I lose NetGalleys when they archive, but I've had other books on there for years.

Agreed Nicole! In fact I've read and reviewed three books this weekend, so here all of my links if anyone is interested:

I've been too busy with work to do much reading or reviewing. In fact, I'm grading tonight after class and before going to bed instead of reading something fun.

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I am reading a lot of Netgalley books this month, but I've also got a couple of ebooks that aren't from Netgalley that I'm excited to read, so... multi tasking?

message 46: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments I started the month well then got bored at work for a few days and went on a request spree. I've now been caught up in Wobble madness again. Scared to look at my ratio.

I am however reading a pre Netgalley book at the moment (I requested the 2nd in a series so frantically reading the first)

Nope, I'm just feeling guilty because I've been reading library books and owned books rather than focusing on my NetGalley responsibilities. Out of sight, out of mind.
