Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just finished #2 (M&Ms - both the authors depicted in the novel go a bit crazy at times) - Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Her Daughter Mary Shelley by Charlotte Gordon. While I greatly admire what the author tried to do in this book, overall, it led to the book being too long and slightly confusing. I understand the device regarding parallel chapters, but with both women being named Mary, it was difficult going back and forth between the time periods and keeping events straight. Overall, worth reading but it definitely takes time. 3.5 stars

message 60: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just finished #10 (book mystery) - Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll. At the end, I really liked this book. But it took me quite a bit to get there, and I had to suffer through my initial intense dislike of the main character. After reading the book, I understand why the author wrote her that way. It's worth it in the end. I liked the writing, the organization of the story, and the plot. There are difficult parts to read, but they are not included for shock value. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars

message 63: by Heather (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) Read my M&M book - Tainted Love - an odd book where indeed a character goes nuts - the ending could be interpreted as happy or sad, but I felt it provided a happier ending for the main character than she would have had if shed stayed in the situation she was in.
Not a book I enjoyed.

message 80: by Heather (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) Finished Daisy in Chains for my almond joy, not sure it was a joy. It was mystery of many parts but sadly the last part did not equal joy. A book that set out to entertain and did so for most of the way, then it failed so badly (in my eyes) to conclude in a meaningful way - but hey, who am I to critique, me that cannot create a book of any sort - so perhaps just not to my taste.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just finished #5 (Kit Kat) - The Pursuit by Janet Evanovich. Fun and lighthearted. I was a bit miffed at the inconsistencies between the end of the last book and the beginning of this one, but in the end, they're brain candy. Worth reading! 3.5 stars

5/5 - challenge completed!!!

message 87: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed #6 (Twix) - The Time in Between by Maria Duenas. While I appreciated the overall story, the characters, and learning about the Spanish civil war, this was not an easy read for me. I don't know if it's the author's writing or the translation, but the prose did not flow. Worth reading but it takes some time to get into the story. 3.5 stars
