Mildly annoying to me how Ichigo, Uryu, and Chad enter Hueco Mundo, then they all get solo fights against Privaron Espadas even after Renji and Rukia join up. Well, that's fine actually, and the fights are cool, of course; my issue is that these guys get their fights first before the natural-born Shinigami duo. We see the fights one after the other, rather than have the action swap between them, which is honestly quite appreciated compared to how e.g. One Piece might do it. But I just feel like it might have been more "clever" to throw Renji or Rukia in the second fight rather than go through all Earthlings first. I don't know. Not really an actual "problem." But it's kinda weird the true-born Shinigami are the first to get real Espada fights in Hueco Mundo. Like, instead of Ichigo, I mean. But he did get to fight Espadas on Earth, so whatever.

Volume 28: Uryu and Chad finish their fights from last volume to show a bit of their new powers (to be better revealed later). Ichigo and the boys meet the "Great Desert Bros." Hollows Nel, Dondochakka, Pesche Guatiche, and their pet sandworm Bawabawa. The humans reunite with Renji and Rukia. Everyone splits up a moment later. Ichigo and Nel begin a fight against Arrancar No. 103: Privaron Espada Dordoni.

Volume 29: Ichigo's fight with Dordoni continues. Ichigo is provoked into using his Hollow mask, which allows him to win. Nel, in the middle of the fight, showed hints of strong powers. Ichigo wins Dordoni's respect, which will kind of be repeated in Chad's own fight later, but not really Uryu's. Uryu and Pesche fight Arrancar No. 105: Cirucci. The volume ends with the start of Chad's fight with Arrancar No. 107: Gantenbainne.

Volume 30: Chad finishes his fight, then gets dabbed on by Nnoitora. We can pretend "Orihime versus Ulquiorra" is a thing, but it's really just me counting her bitchslapping him as a battle. Rukia fights the Espada with the most annoying name, Aaroniero Arruruerie. Renji fights an Espada with an annoying name as well, Szayelaporro Grantz, who bothers me because his name in romaji looks like "Zaeruaporo," which doesn't quite match how I'd think the "official" romanization reads.

****

It continues to annoy me how VIZ would have characters "swear" by saying "Blast!" just a few pages after high-pressure blood-spray....

Loly hnnnnnnnngh 🥵
Menoly is kinda cute, too, but she also looks like a female Grimmjow, which is maybe weird.

Ichigo and Nel's faces when Dordoni introduces himself lmao

Since Cirucci is introduced in a chapter called "Don't Breathe in the Bush," and she's hot, I feel compelled to say something disgusting like "I want to breathe in her bush!"...

"Den... if he wasn't with us... den Pesche musta been an illusion from da start!"
"Not from that start, fool!! What's wrong with you?!"

"...Wow... I can almost see her panties."

"I call this juice of mine 'Infinite Slick'!"
"Rats. It actually sounds kind of cool."
"WA HA HA HA HA HA!!"
(I need to stop with the Pesche quotes lest I fill this whole review with 'em...)

Finna bouta jerk it to Cirucci on the cover of Chapter 257...!

"Yeah, I lied. Sorry."
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!!"
"Well... It sounded cooler that way."
"COOLER?!"
"And then there was the whole vibe of the moment thing."
"This is a battle! There's no vibe!! Geez, you're frustrating!!"

"Make sure you let the water run down over your bellybutton. ❤️"

Loving how Byakuya's sense of art isn't too different from his sister's in the beach omake.

Emilou...! 🥵 Lilinette...! 🥵

This book is trying to tell a story of friendship, and sometimes, it's so good it hurts. "There is no heart without you" It hurts, but I'm so glad for it.

I rate this 3.5 stars.

We've gotten to some of the parts that I would tune out or skip back when these episodes were new on Adult Swim. I wasn't interested in them (the ones that have to do with the 3 digit arrancar) because I thought those fights were unnecessary and while after reading those chapters I understand that Chad discovers his new power and Uryu reveals something about his Quincy powers that we had not seen before, plus the whole fighting many weaker opponents before you get to the big ones is a trop in shonen fighting anime, especially the classic ones but sometimes you wish that some of the fights didn't happen because they're so uninteresting and there are too many fights for this arc. I love fights but it's just one after another and gets kind of repetitive if there aren't any breaks in between. That's why I'm rating this 3-in-1 3.5. I was actually going to rate it 3 stars but Rukia's flashback was adorable and I was so shocked that she was the first one out of the group to do what she did (I actually don't remember that from years ago, I must have missed those episodes or forgotten about them). In one of the previous volumes Ichigo was worried about her and didn't want to split up, which I understand because he had only seen her beat one enemy and he was a weakling. While throughout the first 20 volumes (3 seasons of the anime), she had lost her powers so she didn't do much fighting and then after that she beat that one arrancar and the Grimmjow surprise attacked her, so I don't blame Ichigo for worrying about her. I underestimated her too, she really surprised me here, even more so since the Espada was playing mind games with her.

I've never liked the arrancar uniform, I always thought it looked ugly, especially the one Orihime is wearing. I see so many people cosplay her with that uniform on but I will never do it. I will cosplay Orihime in anything except that one. So far I have only cosplayed her in the soul reaper uniform. To me, all of the outfits in this series look good except for some of the arrancar uniforms like: Orihime, Harribel (I have no problem with characters wearing sexy outfits girls wear and I've even liked some of them like many of the ones that the Fairy Tail but this one is just ridiculous and doesn't look good), Nnoitra, Szayelaporro, etc. The only ones that I really like and think look cool are Grimmjow (who doesn't think he looks awesome, his whole design is so cool) and Espada no. 9 (I forgot his name already).

Overall, this was a mixed omnibus of volumes, some chapters were so good that I couldn't put it down, while for others I wished they didn't exist or was tempted to skip them. I can't wait until we get to the arc where they are fighting the arrancar in Karakura or at least until we get to the fight between Ichigo and Grimmjow.

This is my last read of 2022!

rating of the this omnibus volume:
Vol. #10: ★★★★☆

ratings for the next two omnibus vlumes:
Vol. #11: ★★★★☆
Vol. #12: ★★★☆☆

I know we have plenty of good guys that turned to be bad guys but Kaien's twist would have been good.
I love all the fights and the different abilities the Espadas have. Grimmjow still is the best.

Not gonna lie. The backstory chapters where interesting but they took me out of the hype and the pacing was odd.
Kenpachi vs Nnoitra was so freaking cool tho

Here's to another year of great reading!

And so begins ~ Ichigo, Uryu and Chad enters Hueco Mundo to rescue Orihime and before they can do that, they have to face Espadas, a group of Arrancars that are so powerful, they might not survive. Joining them are Renji and Rukia, going against the orders by the 1st Captain Genryusai, together they face a far more difficult opponents than they ever faced.

To this point, its starting to get stale as every single page itself is just battle after battle after battle. Although still interesting, the repeated style of story-telling has nothing new to offer. I will still go on reading it, just to see what will happen next.

I've gotten through a lot of Bleach. It has the typical shonen plot arcs. I'm not strong enough so I need to get stronger to defeat this really strong nemesis, then I beat the nemesis and I find out there is an even bader, stronger nemesis. That's fine, I knew what I was getting into, but now I find my attention wondering with this series, and I think the new incarnation of baddies (the Arrancar) just aren't as attention grabbing (plus I forget ALL of their names).

Action and more action. Basically fights from page one till the end. We get a cool reveal from a character that caught me by surprise, liked that. The Espadas have been great villains so far, unique and powerful. Wish they had more personalities outside of just angry and arrogant.

The path to Orihime is filled with danger. Everyone seperated and now have to face of against formidable foe. This arc ia filled with intrigue, friendships and hardship. The memories of Rukia's former captain still haunts her. . . Bleach still remains one of my favourite manga of all time.

As much as people criticize the way Orihime is written, I think Rukia kinda clears all the critiques away. Her development is really great (although I disagree with Orihime not being well written, she just isn’t a #girlboss and that’s okay too lol)

This is another climactic battle volume. Ichigo and his friends are closer to finding Orihime but the must each battle arrancars that are blocking them from her. It's amazing how engaging the fight scenes are in this manga considering it's all in black and white. It makes for thrilling reading and quick turning of pages.
