From the previews I've seen, I believe there may be shirtless mining. I guess that will have to do.

Oh, I caught a glimpse of that and assumed it was something I'd missed first season. Yay!

:D
Had to do a nostalgia purchase at the supermarket yesterday. Concord grapes from Paw Paw, just like my uncle used to grow....and we used to pick.....and (to my mother's annoyance), throw at each other when we rode through the vineyards. Boy, those babies stain!

Shirtless mining... ;)"
Much prefer the scything, but I'll take it! :D

Oh my, you're as bad as I with the DVR, or lack thereof! Thank God for online episodes! They'd better, lol!

I don't know why the dvr and I have never gotten on. I'd watch online, but neither my computer or tablet are attached to my television and I want to see it on a large screen. With my aversion to modern technology I shouldn't be allowed to be a millennial.

*whispers* Don't worry, you're secret's safe with us! If they come for your card, we won't tell! :D
I've a medium-sized TV because they don't make RCAs like this anymore, even though I've no remote as of many years ago, it disappeared (long story). The current VCR/DVD player may have died, so I just might be forced to get another.
But one of my students likes this, so maybe I'll suggest we hang together on Sunday nights....think there's an HDTV somewhere in the Union.........really wanted to do it tonight, but I'm giving a quiz tomorrow morning. Seemed cruel.

In the Poldark books Demelza did have a conversation with the man who would be judging Ross; but she never mentioned the trial and George never interrupted their conversation.
She charmed him as they discussed music.
The judge didn't know Demelza was Ross's wife until he saw her in the courtroom, very pregnant and weeping.
As I recall the judge was the one that found Ross innocent of all charges.
Demelza's beauty and charm once again saved the dour Ross from ruin.
The actress playing Caroline was beautiful and charming but when reading the books I pictured Caroline as a Gwendolyn Christie type, the actress that plays Brienne of Tarth on the series "Game of Thrones."
Caroline was very intelligent, didn't like men telling her what to do and extremely independent. Caroline had a lot of common sense and was a no nonsense person as well as a very loyal friend.

I haven't read the books, so no spoilers, pls! I thought she'd go after the young doctor, but it also seems as though she'll present some challenge for our friend Ross.

Hey! Nice to see you here instead of the on the other threads....you know the ones! :D
That's the "Caroline" we were talking about. QandPooh and Marie could probably tell you more about her from the books. But I see her as some kind of sensation/complication-I can feel it coming.

I agree with so many of your observations. Caroline lacked the haughty grandeur of a titled lady that was very apparent in the book.
She was a very kind and warm person but she was much aware of her station in life and that she was about to become a great heiress.
The Elizabeth in this episode was the silent, accusing and cold wife to Francis that she was in the books.
She had every reason to be since Francis gambled his inheritance away and they would be penniless if not for George's crush on Elizabeth.
What a huge disappointment for Elizabeth though. She chose the well off Francis over her former sweetheart Ross, the penniless soldier returning from war.
I'm not a fan of Demelza's makeup either and in the book she was portrayed as a very sexy woman with all the men crazy about her; while Elizabeth is the frigid and cold wife to Francis.

Hi, Linda, I'm very curious to know what other sites are discussing Poldark, could you help me out ? thanks :D

Thanks Kippy and hello :D I haven't been on Goodreads much this summer and haven't really had a chance to see what the problems are that everyone is talking about.
Just when you get used to a site they change up everything it seems.

I was confused about the jury and their verdict as well.
I don't remember exactly what happened at the trial but the jurors consisted of men of property sharing the same status as Ross and weren't likely to convict him due to the fact that he was one of them in rank and status.
The gauche George didn't realize there was a code among gentleman since he came from common stock.
Another reason why he wasn't convicted is that smuggling and looting wrecked ships had been going on for centuries and was a way of life In Cornwell. The gentry turned a blind eye to such goings on and didn't interfere.

You got it, Sistah!

The law pretty much allowed for it, I believe (similar here on East Coast), but there was the accusation of wrecking-that they'd lured the ship onto the rocks deliberately. And the accusation of assault, of course.
Everyone was banking on that, but for a moment it looked as though they would convict him. But didn't the old drunkard, the former servant, change his testimony on the stand, to foil their plot? Isn't that what Demelza was alluding to when she met with the judge? That he'd been bribed?
Sorry guys, the debates were tonight and I had to torture myself. :/ On to better things.
I love Caroline. I finally have a favorite female character on this show. She is a little spoiled, but she seems the type to do the right thing when it comes down to it and use her position to ensure it happens. Plus she burned George, far better than anyone else in town has, so what's not to like. And those costumes! I haven't read the books, so I'm not sure about the Caroline from the story, but I think Gabriella Wilde is doing a good job.
I was so happy with Francis last night. This is the Francis I have been waiting for since the show started. I always thought a lot of his problems stemmed from his father (I have a cousin that was in a very similar situation with his father and older brother) and after his father was out of the way he would grow a backbone, and he finally did. I know the basic storyline for the next two seasons, so I know where everything is going, I just don't exactly know how. But I'm glad Francis has gotten to this point.
You know, George disgusts me, but his character is really well written. They do a great job of showing the balance between new money and old money, and that even getting in the door didn't necessarily mean the door was open.
Of course next week we get to go back to this...

And no bum chin (that was a new expression for me), but I'm not sneezing at the dimples!
If my guy started matching his outfits to his farm animals/accessories, I'd be worried......
I'm with you, Marie! Team Aidan all the way!

Lol, you're right MomToK! She thought she could make it look bad and wound up achieving the opposite!

Omg, I thought she was serious! Which blew my mind, since Cosmo these days is geared toward 15 yr olds......

I did figure it was in jest, especially with the tan face the same color as his jacket and livestock with matching coats. But there are some people who would agree, and that's fine... I'm not one of them.

Oh, now, when I first posted it, it was normal size! What happened to the photo!?
we are running on the US Masterpiece Classic schedule, so if you are on the British schedule, please try to keep it spoiler free
