I remember reading a book I got at my school in 5th or 6th grade, and it was aimed at that age level, this was about 1983 or so. It was about a set of twins or brothers at a boarding school, perhaps in Canada somewhere, where they were always getting into trouble. One of the pranks they got themselves into was stealing the mascot of the school, some sort of animal. I don't really remember many of the details but I remember enjoying the book and would be interested in going back to try it again. I think it wasn't a single book, but was a series of books. Thanks to anyone who can help!

It may be This Can't Be Happening at MacDonald Hall!, though the two boys aren't brothers and the mascot they steal is from a rival school. It was written at the right time though, and it takes place in Canada.
