SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments I remember my teacher reading this picture book to us when I was in primary school in about 1987. There was this series of connected events that seem unlucky and then turn out to be lucky. The main one I remember is that something happens that leads to a man falling (maybe out of a plane) and it all looks bad but luckily there's a hay stack under him - but oh no there's a pitchfork in the hay stack - but luckily he misses the pitchfork - and so on and so forth. I think the events begin with a farmer kicking a bucket.

I've checked Dr Seuss's Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo and it's not that, although there are some similarities.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Could it be Fortunately by Remy Charlip?

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments Yes, that is it! Thank you so much! :)

I just listened to it get read aloud online. It's got the memorable picture of the haystack and the pitchfork!

There was nothing to do with kicking a bucket - I think I must have muddled up that part in my mind with Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo.

My teacher probably read them to us around the same time.

Thanks again, Fortunately is a great find!
