I'm really trying to keep myself from not signing up for this round! I'm planning to try read the next two months most of the books that were recommended to me the previous 4 rounds and haven't read yet.

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Congrats Carrie! Yes, moving sucks but at least when everything's put away you'll actually be able to find it! :D

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Shannon, this will make you laugh.
I'm taking part in Rissa's hangman challenge in the Erotica group.
The category this week was ' read a book that you put on your tbr shelf within 3 months of joining Goodreads'.
Well panic set in. I started to hyperventilate and got a few heart palpitations. I thought I was going to have to read a book with a DV in it. Back then, I hadn't discovered the joys of MM and read MF exclusively.
So half a bottle of JD later And I did manage to find one book that was on my MM tbr shelf Texas Rough.
Moral of story. CLEAN YOUR TBR SHELF and make lots of individual ones for the different combinations.

Btw, I'm not in the clean your tbr shelf challenge this time, but maybe next...lol.

Ha! I learned that one the hard way so I don't have any DV books on my tbr shelves. :D

Brianne (bhillson) | 39 comments Week 7: Week 7: Book mentioned in one of the 2014 "What Are You Reading Topics"
Playing to Win (Play by Play, #4) by Jaci Burton
Finished: July 18/14
Rating: 3 1/2 Stars

I have read other Jaci Burton stories before and absolutely enjoyed reading them. I did enjoy the story between Cole and Savannah, however, I found it lacking at times. The storyline was great and enjoyable and the characters had good banter between one another and a lot of chemistry, however, I just found at times the story had it's lul moments.

Overall, I did enjoy the book and I found myself enjoying the book more towards the ending - which is always a good thing in my mind, as you finish off on a good note.

Burton never fails to have steamy hot romance in her novels which leaves you blushing.

Overall it was a good read.

Elizabeth (elizabeth_greece) | 1918 comments Week 8: Set on an Island

Silence of the Grave by Arnaldur Indriðason
Silence of the Grave
set in Reykjavík (Iceland), theme in precis
280 pg per GR
finished 7/20/2014, ★★★
This book was really depressing. Set in Reykjavik, Iceland, both during WWII and nowadays we follow the investigation of a skeleton found on a hill, as well as the story of a family abused physically and mentally by the husband/father. The description of the domestic violence was brutal and the personal lives of the investigative team was nothing cheerful either.

Follow The Sun (Stories from Sapphire Cay, #1) by Meredith Russell Follow The Sun ★★★★

Well wasn't this story just a ray of sunshine. Super cute story about Lucas who is a hot mess at 32 from working his ass off. He's completely stressed out and was told during his physical that he's on the fast track to serious illness from his lifestyle. Then we have Dylan who works at the resort Lucas's sister is having her wedding at and I found it hilarious that he kept popping up in all these different rolls. He was the boat captain, the bartender and the wedding photographer. He seems all put together but he too is kind of a hot mess. What ensues is a very sweet love story with minimal angst, no stupid fighting and some decent smexing. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

Once Upon a Winter's Eve (Spindle Cove, #1.5) by Tessa Dare Once Upon a Winter's Eve 113/GR
How it fits: Set in England (shown in GR book description) finished 7/24/14 *4 STARS*

This was a good short story. I read the first book due to the random book challenge on RRRC, so otherwise this series wouldn't have even made it to my radar.

This story was about a seemingly shy wallflower who has a secret scandal that no one knows about. But, what we found in these short pages is that Violet Winterbottom was seriously fierce! I loved how in charge she became once she once she knew what she was fighting for.

I'm have really enjoyed the ladies of Spindle Cove thus far, and my only regret is that I didn't see more of them in this story. I can't wait to continue the series, because I want to see more of these ladies come into their own.

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments I think we are just waiting for Brianne's book this week. I'm going to try to read the shortest book possible for this one so I can finish up the last category quickly. Lol

What about Carrie? She has two reviews to post and another 24 hours to take a pass for this week, right?

message 444: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments She can't take a pass because Katie already did. I'm not sure what's going to happen there because she is already three weeks behind. I don't think you are supposed to be more than two books behind.

message 445: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2083 comments If Carrie needs the pass, I can post a book for this week. :)

message 446: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments I'm not sure either. We are all caught up once Brianne posts this week's review except for Carrie. She still needs to post reviews for week 6 and 7 and pick and post for week 8. I'll go ahead and ask Jane.

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Jane just posted this...

As we have less than 24 hours until the last theme is announced, all selection posts for books for week 8 MUST be posted within the next 6 hours - midnight EST US. It simply isn't fair on your team mates if you haven't even bothered to select this week's book, let along having read it in preparation for the coming final week.

and this...

Another set of reminders going into the final theme announcement:

* You MUST be no more than 2 books behind when I announce the theme;
* Both selection and completion posts MUST be correct. Refer here. I will not point out errors or missing information.

There is absolutely no leeway in any rules this week.

Hey Carrie! I just wanted to you let you know that your post won't count unless you state how the book fits for week 8.

Also, how are you doing with the other two reviews that you're missing?
