This thread is for "marking" a book genre (or lack thereof). It is not for assigning genres - only for locking in genres that currently appear on the book's main page.

The verifications in this thread apply only to the Summer 2014 challenge - they do not carry over to future challenges. Genre verifications from the Spring 2014 challenge do not carry over - verifications are only applicable to the current challenge.

A book need only be verified once in the thread - then it can be used by any participant in the Summer 2014 challenge.

Please do not post task-specific questions here ("is this cover green enough?") and other such questions.

If you are planning to use a book for a genre task and fear that the genre may disappear, or are concerned that it could get shelved by enough people as "childrens" to move that genre to the main page, post a link to the book in this thread. The moderators will verify. When you post your book, if the genres have changed, just link to the post in this thread in which it was verified and you'll be good to go.

Because of the volume of verification requests in this thread, I will not be trying to compile any sort of master lists. If the book you are using does not have the required genre at the time of posting, but has been verified in this thread, please link to the post in which it was verified in your completed task posting. If the book you are posting still has the genre on the main page, there is no need to refer to any posts here or in other help threads - if it's there on the main page, you're all set.

all work for the genre. Note that Calamity Jack is a short childrens book, so will not work for all tasks.

message 33: by SamZ (new)

SamZ (samwisezbrown) Thanks Sandy, I appreciate the heads up on the children's book! I'll check in the specific task thread for approval as well. I have a few more genres to lock in: there seem to be a lot of genre specific tasks this season, which is great because it helps me branch out. :)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for paranormal

Love Beyond Time for time travel

Peace Like a River for literary fiction

I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced for feminism

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for science fiction fantasy and no romance

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for witches

Sandi Barnes | 549 comments Can I please have City of the Falling Sky noted for science fiction fantasy?

Another issue and not sure if I should post this somewhere else instead -- It has been shelved as children's as well. Seems to be geared to YA, but just want to be sure it is acceptable --

Thanks!!

science fiction and fantasy are both listed as main page genres.

Children is not listed on the main page, but if it winds up there, it's over 300 pages so would work for any task that does not specifically exclude any books with children as a genre.
