R9: Team #4 ~ Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies **WINNING TEAM**

Title/Author: The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper
Date finished: 26th July
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: I've read a couple of books from this author, so know what to expect in terms of characters and style. I like that there are always strong friends and siblings present in the heroines life, not just the hero. The hero himself could've done with a bit more exploration/depth, and the plot line of the vampire poisoning was a bit weak. All in all though, it was a funny, light read, and I would consider reading the next one.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Luckily Romance genre should be an easy category!

I brought books with me this weekend that would work for the vampire shelf or the romance shelf. Unfortunately, neither one has a couple on them. Looking at my shelves, I'm considering two series I want to catch up on:

3* July 28th
I wasn't sure if I'd like Jack (Jacqueline) or Hawk. Jack wrote an editorial arguing the Ikati are evil and need to be exterminated. I didn't like Hawk at first either because of the whole blackmailing and kidnapping thing. Nothing says you might change your mind if you really get to know "us" like blackmail and kidnapping!
Jack shows her strength and empathy. Hawk shows his as well. I was rooting for both of them individually and as a couple. I was really enjoying this and thinking this would be a good 4 star read. Then, (view spoiler)
I liked seeing Morgan and Jenna. Jenna's twins, Hope and Honor, have interesting Gifts. The underlying storyline that started in book 1 continues in this one. One of the big bads meets his end, but there are so many more.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Shelf #11 ~ 27/7/14: 'Two's Company' (At least 2 people on the cover)

Read: These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman

Review: The first half of this book was a chore but then it got a lot better. The characters were alright, I wasn't really attached them to though. The love story wasn't believable to me either, I didn't think it was dramatic enough considering the circumstances they were in but maybe that's just me.

Week 11: Two's Company
Leslie: The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires
Rachel: Darkness Bound July 28th *** Review
Josie:
Daffodil: Rebel
Suzanne: These Broken Stars July 29th *** Review

Review: I've read one other Molly Harper book and I wasn't too crazy about it - and so I put off reading this one. But so many people encouraged me to read it. And so I did - Hey Mikey - she liked it!! I love the storyline and the characters were all interesting. Iris's relationship with Gigi was great. My biggest issue with the book is that I wasn't crazy about the relationship between Iris and Cal. But other than that - a fun book!

LOL, I couldn't resist; that old PSA popped into my head and I have no impulse control when I'm sleep deprived. Anyway, I'll post my review tomorrow before the next shelf call.

The other 2 (Vampires and New2You Author) it is just us. I don't have book for those picked out. Any suggestions for N2Y Author?

Eileen Wilks has an amazing series World of the LupiTempting Danger is the first book. Like most UF, the first one is not the best. It takes a couple of books to really become enthralled. But once you are hooked, it's amazing.
Also, you have Jennifer Ashley's books on your shelf - both historical and PNR series. But you haven't read them yet. Can't go wrong there!

Review: I really enjoyed this. Nathan and Astrid, both isolated individuals, must work together in order to defeat the Heirs of Albion. I liked the characters and the plot, but I kept finding myself waiting for them to join up with other Blades. The time they spent alone relying on each other probably helped the relationship move along quicker, but I just wanted a little bit more of the characters we'd met in past books. I loved the final scenes with Catullus and will definitely be reading his book soon.

Review: Loved this. I tore through the book, not even wanting to put it down to fix dinner last night.
Her secret's been revealed to those closest to her and Kate knows it won't be long before the community in Atlanta discovers it. She and Curran are prepared to fight Roland, but hope to delay it as long as possible. As events unfold, Kate has to face some tough situations and make even harder decisions. She holds onto her faith in Curran and keeps one of the most important promises she ever made to him. I don't want to spoil anything, but I am happy with the way events played out and look forward to seeing how the decisions made by Kate and Curran play out in future books, which the authors assure us in the forward there will be.
There's a nice refresher list of major characters at the beginning of the book. And the "story so far" update is told from Barabas's unique point of view.

Review:
One of the best books in the series, in my opinion. Mary Ann is such an interesting character and Manolito is awesome. How they come to be a couple makes for a great story. Loved it!!

Aug 4th 4*
This one was a dozy. Whether it's a zombie plague, people repeatedly trying to frame her, or her Grandma choosing her alcoholic daughter over her, Celia just can't catch a break. That being said, I enjoyed every minute of this book once I got started.
One thing that I could leave is the love triangle with Bruno and John. I will be disappointed if Celia ends up with the one who betrayed her. The book's ending is very open ended.

Review: Every book just gets better and better, I have no idea what I'm going to do when I finish this series! I'm so glad to be back with the Carpenters in this book, I really wanted to know more about them because I'm a sucker for big families. Without giving anything away, I want to see more about Charity in the series! I think she is a really interesting character :)
