June 16th 4*
Green/teal cover
I actually liked this better than book 1 (Storm Warrior). It works just fine as a stand alone as well. Morgan and Rhys do appear in this one but reading book one isn't necessary to understand this one.
I really liked Brooke and Aidan. I appreciated Brooke's devotion to her Code. I liked the ending and Brooke's ability to protect not only herself, but her friends. Well done!

But she was an absolutely stunning bride and the wedding was beautiful. I'm so tired!! Heading home in the morning (very early). The party is over!

I struggled with this book in the beginning - I didn't care for any of the characters and the shifter world that Kelley Armstrong created was not appealing to me. But I kept with it and slowly I began to like the characters and the shifter world became intriguing to me. By the end of the book I was invested in the world and the people. The story line was interesting but not always well developed. But still, a good start to an interesting series.

Hands down favorite of the books so far. I like where the story is going and I liked the development of the characters. I'm beginning to get very invested in Harry's world and the his humor cracks me up.

Review: So, I've really liked this series up until this book. I was really annoyed with the attitude of the main character, after 11 books I expected her to be a bit more mature and have a better attitude. She goes from being super in charge to a whiny baby from page to page. Maybe her sisters can put her in her place in the next book.

Sparrow Hill Road brought back found memories of growing up, huddling close to the campfire and whispering tales to frighten one another, sharing ghost stories and urban legends. McGuire built a rich "twilight" world full of the dead (hitchers, homecomers, haunts ...), the living (routewitchers, ambulomancers, trainspotters, ...) and the in-between (bean sidhe).
All of the tales in this volume center around the death experiences of Rose Marshall, the Ghost of Sparrow Hill Road, aka The Girl in the Prom Dress and The Girl in the Diner, as she travels the layers of America's roads helping out those she can, guiding the spirits of those she can't and fighting against darker spirits. Individually, the stories vary in theme and time period, highlighting some of her more interesting experiences. Collectively, they point toward a future where Rose may eventually stop Bobby Cross and his killing.
I love McGuire's October Daye series and I'm anticipatig enjoying this one as much -- I'm already looking forward to the next book.

Review: I really enjoyed this and I need to catch up on this series. I was happy to see more about Rule's son, Toby, and their relationship. I'm intrigued with what is going on with the Mate Bond. (view spoiler) I'm looking forward to reading more about how this situation is going to develop. Rule had to make some difficult decisions in this book and he seemed to handle them well. But he has more ahead of him.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I'm thinking

And I also love Spider! Two of my favorites!
I'll be reading this one for this week:

Rachel, I've read the first two books in this series, but somehow never made it to Doubleblind. Can't wait to read your review.

Review: This was a really sweet retelling of Beauty and The Beast without the Stockholm syndrome. The Beast is at the mercy of Beauty and is in jeopardy of loosing his castle. She has to save him, which is the kind of romance story I like. Definitely worth recommending!

Week 5: Green/Teal cover

Read: Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris

Review: This book didn't move as fast as I had hoped for being the second to last book. I like how Sookie's love life is going ((view spoiler) ) but I'm still not sure how the series is going to tie itself up. This book just seemed like another filler book that was about everyone in sookie's life and not really about her. I'm ready to read the last book and say farewell to the Sookie Stackhouse saga. I wish Charlaine would work on Harper Connelly, I really liked that series.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I've finished mine yesterday for the green cover:

Aggh! If I'd known it was a weird size cover then I would never have picked it LOL! How annoying!

Review: 2 stars on GR is "okay" and this just sums up the book. A typical highland romance though not actually set in Scotland... but in Ireland instead! To be honest, there wasn't a noticeable difference regarding setting or culture. There were talk about threats, such as the Normans, but you didn't ever really feel the danger.
The characters themselves were fine - Triona the heroine was irritating at times. Very Mary Sue. I didn't find her and Ronan, our hero, to be very well suited, or even ready for marriage. They had lust and that's about it.
It was a free read so it was okay.

Can I change my book for this week? Do I need to make a separate post?

Review: I really enjoyed this peek back into Gin's past, especially catching glimpses of people who would eventually become influences in her life, good and bad. Gin learns a few hard lessons about why Fletcher's rules are important and begins to see the value of patience.

Review:I really enjoyed this book - it was such a surprise. The world building was strong and unique and the characters were engaging. It is set in the future on earth after an obviously horrific event. Some of the people live in Pods and they create artificial places called "realms" that people visit. Nothing is real in the realms and this has become normal. Aria accidentally ends up outside the POD and is helped by Peregrine who is an outsider. Great story!

June 28th 5*
This is an example of a series that keeps getting better and better. In this one, Jax is serving as an ambassador. Jax has numerous times/chances to go back to "her old ways" when something doesn't quite pan out. (Me, Myself, and I) But, she doesn't, instead focusing on what is best for everyone else. I love Jax's character development so far through this series. The pacing is a bit slower than the last book, but that didn't effect my enjoyment.
I really like her entourage; Vel, March, Dina, Hit, and Jael. Doc too. I liked learning more about Vel, he is an intriguing character. I will say I am disappointed with something that one of Jax's "people" chose to do for the payout.
Warning- cliffhanger ending.

The majority of the cover must be red.

Leaning towards (at least right now) the foreign language edition of Dance With the Devil since it's on my Nook and I can read when I'm at the gym (I read instead of watching the TVs).

Let me look at my covers and see what I have!

We are doing great!!
By the way Rachel - the Zoe Archer book is a favorite of mine. Really fun series!
