This suspense novel was filled with lots of twists and turns. I didn't figure out who the villain was until it was revealed. While the suspense and plot were strong, the romance between Luke and Claire was just o.k. In particular, the endearment "honey" bothered me each time it was used. Do thirty year olds call each other "honey"?
Overall, a solid suspense novel. I look forward to the next in the series.

Review:
The Bess Crawford Series is an enjoyable cozy mystery series set in England during WWI. Main character Bess Crawford is a nurse and a bit like Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote (telling my age a bit with that comment). Bess is continually stumbling across murders and helping to solve them.
In A Pattern of Lies, Bess helps solve a two year old crime in which a 100 factory workers were killed in an explosion. The explosion and its severity were based upon fact. There is a lot of detail provided to help paint the picture of environment. I have a difficult time believing a nurse would be given as much leave time as Bess is given in the series, but perhaps that is on target too.
I especially enjoyed the return of Sergeant Lassiter in A Pattern of Lies. As always, Simon and Colonel Sahib are great contributors to the story line.
While the series is becoming rather more of the same, it is an enjoyable same and I plan to continue reading this series.

This book shows that it is 544 pages, so you can have an extra piece removed (from this puzzle only, since that's what the review is being used for). Which number would you like?

This suspense novel was just o.k. for me. I liked the main character Sarah and found the actions she took to be believable. I also enjoyed the medical details included in the story.
What fell short for me was the writing and it was tough to believe who the villain turned out to be. The writing was not bad. It was just a bit simplistic.
I would read other novels by this author.

Review:
Once again new author Connilyn Cossette has delivered a beautifully written Biblical Fiction novel. I found myself comparing her sophomore novel to Tessa Afshar's Land of Silence. Both authors deliver a well done Biblical Fiction novel.
In Shadow of the Storm, the physical and time setting is the year that the Hebrews (and others) spent at the base of Mount Sanai. While the action that occurred during that year was substantially less than the plagues that occurred in her freshman novel, Counted With the Stars, Shadow of the Storm was rich in historical detail.
Shira is the main character in Shadow of the Storm. It was a compelling story and I enjoyed Shira's journey.
I look forward to the continuing journey of the Hebrews. The Out From Egypt series is highly recommended for readers that enjoy Biblical Fiction.
My gratitude to the author and publisher, Bethany House, for a complimentary copy of the novel. The opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a review.
