Christy | 6 comments This book was a middle-school aged read for me back in the 1990s - a relatively short chapter book. The protagonist, a modern girl, gets magically transported to a medieval castle, where she is dressed and treated like a princess. This is all well and good... until she finds out that she's not the first girl that this has happened to. The girls are being groomed & adopted as princesses in order to be sacrificed. There's a king who acts as the girl's father, who is uneasy about the situation, but also hardened to it because it's been going on for so long; and an evil sorcerer type who is transporting the girls and convincing the king that the sacrifices are necessary.

Y (attambaskaska) | 4 comments Can't recall if it hits upon all the points you mentioned, but perhaps it's The Seventh Princess by Nick Sullivan?

One Goodreads reviewer of The Seventh Princess by Nick Sullivan says: "It’s a standard fantasy world filled with royalty and magic but there’s darker elements as well; such as the harpies that have the faces of young girls and the sacrifice that must be made every full moon..."

Should we mark your request as Solved?
