Runell Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I don't seem to be getting notifications for this at all and I just happened to check this.

I'll be right back with my book choice.

Visions of Heat (Psy-Changeling, #2) by Nalini Singh
★★★★ 9/14/16
Review: Nalini Singh is a great writer. She keeps the story moving, provides energy and a great visual for imagining scene, emotion and characters. I'm just getting in to this series and hope to put a good dent in it over the next few months.
In this story another Psy-Faith Nightstar, fights her nature of 'no emotion' to ultimately mate with Vaughn a dominate Jaguar. Faith is an extremely valuable Psy, worth billions to her clan. Her visions and some ruthlessness on the Psy-Council's part cause her to question and ultimately part from her link to the Psy. Some danger, mystery and of course romance combine to make this story an entertaining one.
I judge a book by my desire to not put it down. While this one didn't keep me from sleeping...those are 5★'s, I did carry this one around everywhere I went until I was done.

Pam | 1048 comments I'm almost done with last week's book. Slow reading between first full week of students and Back to School Night #1. For the upcoming week I'm torn between Until November (Until, #1) by Aurora Rose Reynolds (which is free on kindle right now) or On the Island (On the Island, #1) by Tracey Garvis-Graves which has been recommended to me a zillion times but I put off because it makes be feel kind of creepy given my profession. Any recommendations?

You can start. I need to be done by Friday--you can't be more than two weeks behind. Speed only matters the last week.

Not my favorite Jill Shalvis. I had trouble getting into it. Once I was about a third into it, it moved really fast. Pru, a tour boat captain in San Francisco, falls for Finn who is the local pub owner. But Pru has a secret which ultimately comes between them until the HEA. I will definitely read the next one. Oh and Pru has a dog named Thor.

I see you've already made your selection, but I wanted to assure you that everything in On the Island is handled well. I was so concerned going into it, but like you , it had been recommended over and over to me. I ended up absolutely loving that story! So if it comes up again, you don't have to worry about the teacher/student or the age thing.

Good to know. I actually have a copy that I bought at a book sale. I started the other one because it was on my kindle and I was somewhere waiting for someone yesterday. Of course, with the frequency you have been recommending for me in PIFM, you can always put it on the list next time!

Review: Hannah Montgomery is an overworked marketing manager who takes a much needed vacation and travels to New Zealand for three weeks. One her first full day there she almost dies, getting caught in a rip current while swimming off a deserted beach. Thankfully Drew Callahan comes along in his boat and rescues her. Drew is a famous rugby player, and he's very happy Hannah has no clue who he is! And even though Hannah isn't a casual sex kinda girl, she and Drew end up having a vacation romance - which Drew wants to continue after Hannah leaves. Ultimately he convinces her to move to En Zed, where their story continues. Hannah was difficult to figure out - she seemed so adventurous, going on vacation by herself. But at the same time she was so timid and closed off from developing a relationship with Drew. I loved Drew! He was hot but humble! The two were an unlikely pair, but it was a great story and I'm looking forward to reading more books in the series.

Review: I gave this one three stars, but it's a kind of unenthusiastic three stars. Danny is a YA author whose mega-popular book was turned into a movie. And then he was in a car accident, where his lover was killed, traumatic brain injury caused him to lose his sight, and he lost his writing mojo. And he gained the ability to see ghosts. His post-accident occupation (not profession, because he does it for free) is helping his ex-BIL the cop solve murder cases. Logan is a ghostwriter for a publishing house that specializes in scandalous "autobiographies" with terrible contracts that screw everyone but the publisher. His father was a con man, so he decides that everyone is a scam artist and then congratulates himself on seeing through their dishonesty. Basically, this book was just really average. The characters were OK but not great, the story was OK but not great, the writing was OK but not great. The story lasted too long past the defeat of the evil ghost, the sex was so-so, and they exchanged "I love yous" just a couple days after meeting each other. The really fast "I love you" can work for me sometimes, intense situations pushing things along faster and all. But the chemistry just wasn't there for me. The epilogue left things open for more books, although as far as I know, this is a standalone. It was on one of the required lists, but I'd argue that blindness is more a disability than an illness, particularly since it was the result of an accident. It checked off this week's required book, and it gives me another 2012 title for the 2016 RRRC Countdown, but other than that, meh.

Review: This one is a 'doozy'. I don't read a lot of young adult, but this book is really good! It twists, turns and keeps you wondering and hanging at the end! A three parter that could be one book really...it's a must that I finish all three. I got this one free for a challenge...will get other two from library so I can finish.
MCs are stuck...they can't remember their relationships/people but remember places and know things. It's pretty bizarre and gets even more strange when at the end you discover....(not going to spoil)...you need to read it ;)

Runell Week 1 Completion: Mickey, Pluto, and Donald: Read a book with pets in the story line.

Title: Wallbanger
Author: Alice Clayton
Rating: 1 ★

My Review:

So, I love romcoms. They're funny, they're cheesy, and a total guilty pleasure.

Had this been a movie, I would have loved it and made my boyfriend watch it with me, but as a book, I didn't. It was going well there for a while, but then the jokes became incredibly stupid and repetitive and the exclamation marks became too much for me.

The best thing about the book was Clive the cat.

Sucks that I didn't like this one as it's been on my Kindle forever, but oh well.

Very sweet story. I really enjoyed the characters and the setting. Even if it wasn't all perfect, according to a friend who would know! I am definitely interested in what happens next!

I listened to the audio of this and it was quite good. The narrator, Joel Leslie, did a good job. The accent was almost too heavy at times though, a time or two I had to go back to relisten if I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments I don't know about anyone else, but this round of Pass the Parcel is really kicking my butt. I know a lot of it is probably my mood and stress (my parents' birthdays were both within the last two weeks, and Mom tore her rotator cuff and is scheduled for surgery on Friday), but I just can't find anything I feel excited about reading. Would it be OK with everyone else if I take a Pass this week, as long as someone else hasn't already claimed it?

message 93: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31790 comments It's fine with me and I don't think anyone else has claimed it. I know what you mean, the themes have not fit my books and I am so far behind in what I wanted to finish before the end of the month! For me it is a cross between having lots of family stuff (the fall is really busy for us with lots of birthdays) and being in a bit of a reading funk.

I hope your mom's surgery goes well! My aunt had that surgery a few months ago and her biggest advice would be to do the therapy! But that is true for any surgery like that. I hope the rest of the month and next goes smoothly for you too!

Thanks! Mom is really motivated, it's her dominant hand of course, so getting her to do her PT won't be a problem. Getting her *to* all those therapy appointments will probably be the difficult part. But she's got a ton of people from her church lining up to bring meals and help with the driving, so we'll get it worked out.

Review: What an awesome story! Kaderin the Cold Hearted is a Valkyrie who has spent the last thousand years slaying vampires, after they murdered her sisters (well, the Valkyrie's hate vamps anyways, but she's especially pissed at them.) Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire by his brother, Nikolai, several hundred years ago and has been angry ever since - he never wanted immortal life. When Kaderin shows up at the castle he's been living in to kill him, she finds she can't. And Sebastian discovers Kaderin is his Bride! As Kaderin participates in the Talisman Hie, an immortal version (and a violent one at that) of The Amazing Race, Sebastian is determined to show her that she can trust him. This story was so imaginative, interesting, violent, sexy, sad - it had it all. I couldn't help but fall in love with both of the main characters and enjoy seeing the side characters again. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to read this series, but I'm definitely on to the next book!

MountainKat | 31790 comments Well, I live in the boonies so my car trips take a long time, like an hour to the grocery store long. That is how I started with audiobooks though, now I listen all the time! I listen while shopping or cleaning or eating (when I'm alone). Lately I've been setting the sleep timer and listening before bed too - hubby hates it when I read, even white on black is bright. So, I've been getting through way more audiobooks than reading lately!

There are really people in the world like these characters!
The believability of the story and the timeline Lou establishes really kept me enthralled. After about chapter 5, I didn't want to put it down. I found myself wondering constantly how the book would end. For me, this was a story about how we impact others lives...these MCs characters really meant something to each other. This one should probably be on most readers to-read shelf!
