I suspect I would need to live to be 147 or so to finish my TBR list. It's a good thing I don't aspire to do so.
The calculator showed that I would take 5 years and 10 months, but like Diane, I wouldn't be able to add anymore and I was probably guessing low on the TBR list. And not adding more is an impossibility since I find more I could add almost everyday.

It's a constant sifting process to select, to de-list as interests change, and to be totally open to new genres, works, authors, approaches.... My TBR represents adventure.

I agree that I would never want to stop adding because my tastes evolve. My TBR is what I want to read right now and doesn't reflect the books I may want to read in 5, 10 or 20 years. And it is different than it would have been 10 years ago. So it is an ever-changing list even if I didn't read many of the books on it.

I've almost ceased entering giveaways, too, because a fair amount of my clutter comes from those opportunistic adds.
LOL. It would take me 11 years and 2 months, and that is without adding any! Like others have said, I like to keep adding. I don't declutter because the list is a way to remember I read a review that interested me. When I (rarely) run out of ideas, I look back at the list. Otherwise, I keep reading the newer additions.

If I only count the unread books I actually have on my shelves, not my tbr wishlist here on GR, the link says it will take me 14 years.I am never going to finish them all!

Add to my long term reading, I have a stash of fabric to make into quilts that would require me to live to be 200. I either need more time or to better prioritize . . .

if we get that extra 100 years, at least we'll know how to spend it - on quilting and reading.

Starting now. LOL

I'm down with that. Maybe we will find the answer …in a book. Or more likely we'll synthesize it from what we find in many books.
I'm 73 and find this question hilarious, I'm never going to read all the books I already own partly because they're growing faster then they are going, so it's difficult for me to add on my TBR list, but I will be reading until they carry me away. I'm going to have to figure out what I want to take with me and tell my daughter to stick them in the coffin.
Lorraine wrote: "I'm 73 and find this question hilarious, I'm never going to read all the books I already own partly because they're growing faster then they are going, so it's difficult for me to add on my TBR lis..."I'm thinking every time scientists decide that reading x number of books adds y number of years to your life, I will read that number of books and use the extra years to read the next number of books that will extend my life.

You ladies may have the right idea. Hopefully when they say you can't take it with you, they don't mean books.
I haven't been in the groups in a very long time busy with school and such but i'm finished now. I just randomly picked a thread in here and this one popped out at me so here i am. I did the calcutator and this is my result:Reading all 89 books will take:
5 years and 2 months
You will finish your TBR pile on:
March 28, 2022
And you will be:
30
I have 89 and it will depend if the library has the book or not. cause sometimes i don't feel like paying the Canadian cost and i don't like buying things online.
Right now I'm reading Daughter of York
and then I have like 3 others after that. Then i'll have to go back to the library to get more.
My 6,876 will take me until I am 114 if I read at the rate I read last year, and that's if I don't add more. I need to up it to 150 a year to get there by the time I am 77, lol. Perhaps I am destined to NOT read every book I want to...
16 years and 11 months - that is, if I never were to buy another book and couldn't manage to read more than last year...
Supposedly it'd only take me 2 years exactly, but i only add the first book in a series, so I've likely got waaaay more i want to read than i think
So, the calculator says it will take me about 60 years to read all the books in my library which now totals well over 3,000. Thankfully I am a quick reader and have sweet children that will appreciate my collection someday.
