The writing is excel..."This sounds like a powerful book. I have added it to my "To Read" list, bloated as it is. Thanks for talking about it.
Update to post 2. I am now 2/4 for my goal. I just finished The Boys from Brazil for my book that was published the year I was born. I was concerned that it would seem silly all these years later but it was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At the end when a key character dies I thought "but he didn't die until 1979" but then I remembered...oh yeah this was published in 1976. It has held up well over the years.
Just finished #7 (same hair and eye color - auburn and blue, like Ove's wife Sonja) - A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Funny, lovely, irreverent, and wonderful! I am so glad that I read this book! The writing is excellent, the characters are complex and so loveable, and the story is great! Definitely worth reading! 5 stars4/5

Well, I think I was over optimistic - I blame it on beginner's enthusiasm! I only manage one out of 6 of my picks - a Wizzard of Earthsea by Ursula K Le Guin.
I did read many books this month, but got really wrapped up in another challenge I am doing for the next two months. So maybe one challenge at a time then. :)
It was great to pick the books though and they've ended up on my TBR list.

Just finished #5 (same occupation - criminal defense lawyer) - All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage. This book had an incredibly slow start, particularly given that it started with a murder. The author seemed to be trying too hard. It picked up a bit towards the end, but it was a struggle for me to read. Not worth reading. 2 stars5/5 - challenge completed!!!
