5 - The Da Vinci Code: I read it when it came out when everyone was raving about it and really liked it (by memory I gave it 4 stars). I've read several Dan Brown book since, which I prefered (like Inferno)
27 - The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest: I also read the series when it came out and loved it! I listened to them again last summer and was happy to revisite them. I gave it 4 stars but I can't remember why, because I don't write enough reviews ;)
56 - Le souffle des dieux: this is the second book in a trilogy by my favorite French author, Bernard Werber. I don't like his recent books as much, but this is amazing. By memory I gave it 4 stars but at the moment of the reading I may have given it 5 stars.
88 - Assassin's Apprentice: the first book of one of my favorite fantasy series by Robin Hobb. I re-read it a few years ago and still loved it. I gave it 4 stars because the story really picks up in the second book.
95 - Ship of Destiny: the last book of another great series by Robin Hobb. I gave it 3 stars because if found the ending a bit rushed after following the characters through so many adventures. Still a worthwhile series though.
Maybe I should have sorted my books in another way because it found only books I read...

5: RuinI have not read this book yet because it is book 2 in a series, and I have to read the books in order.
27:Rising Tides I have not read this book because it is also part of a series, but this is book 5 in that series.
56:The Blemished I have not read this book yet because I just haven't had time with all the other reading i'm doing for my challenges.
88:The Amazing Adventures of Toby the Trilby Once again I haven't read this yet because I just haven't had time to squeeze it in.
95:A Bleu Streak Christmas I have not read this book yet because it is part of a series, book 2.

5 - Beautiful Creatures: So I rated this one 5 stars. I read it back in 2013 and I remember really liking the book. I do know that I haven't read anymore of the series since then.
27 - The Accidental Werewolf: I rated it a 5 as well. I love this series! Its a fun little read.
56 - Over My Dead Body: I haven't read this one yet. It has been sitting on my GoodReads TBR list since 2013. It is book 5 in the series so I need to read the other ones first. I think the reason I didn't get around to reading them is that my library didn't have them.
88 - Princess: A True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia: Haven't read this one yet, I added it in 2014 and once again had a hard time getting a copy of it.
95 - The Accidental Mistress: I rated this one 3 stars. I read it from Feb 10-17 in 2014 and since I don't write reviews I don't remember why I gave it that rating. (After reading the little blurb on the book I am not even sure I remember reading this book.)

5 - Twilight: Cant believe Twilight showed up here. I read it after watching the first movie and quite enjoyed it. I immediately read the rest of the series and didnt enjoy them quite as much by the end of it.
27 - Demonglass: Wow! this is bringing up books i had completely forgotten about. This is book 2 in the Hex Hall series and i found this one really fun. I have read the whole series.
56 - Tess of the D'Urbervilles: I read this when i was in school (for fun, not for school). It was such a heartbreaking book.
88 - A Wrinkle in Time: I havent read this book yet, but i have heard great things about it. I am very fond of children's literature and this one has been on my radar for a while. I havent read it yet, because I dont own this one and its easier to just read the ones i already own first. However i still keep buying books, so thats not really a good excuse.
95 - Second Foundation: Book 3 of the original foundation trilogy. Loved this book. The Foundation trilogy is among my favourite science fiction books.

5 - Chew, Vol. 2: International Flavor, 4 stars, I enjoyed the first volumes in this comic books series, they were fun.
27 - Batman: Year One, 4 stars, it’s Batman debuts. And yes, I read comic books :p
56 - The Fellowship of the Ring, 3 stars because they sing.
88 - Batman: The Dark Knight, Vol. 1: Golden Dawn, 3 stars and I don’t remember it.
95 - Sand Chronicles, Vol. 4, no rating because I added the manga months after reading it.

27 - Excellent Women by Barbara Pym Barbara Pym is my favorite author and I re-read this book every few years. It's a novel set in a small village in England. I rated this 5 stars.
56 - The Book Thief I loved this book and rated it 5 stars.
88 - Père Goriot I read this one summer when I was trying new classics. Rated it 3 stars but I'd never recommend it.
95 - Crossing Stones I can't really remember this book. I rated it 3 stars. It's YA.

5 - Looking for Alaska. I added this because I'd read The Fault in Our Stars and decided to read more of John Green's books. I haven't read this one yet because I've always ended up choosing other John Green books for challenge prompts, and I generally try to avoid reading more than one by the same author in the year. It's definitely on the list for next year.
27 - War and Peace. I added this when I first created my list, which included all of the classics that I intended to read at some point. I haven't read it yet because it's just intimidating!
56 - And the Mountains Echoed. I added this book because I loved The Kite Runner. There's no real reason that I haven't read it yet, just that I've had so many other books that I wanted to read first.
88 - The Weight of Silence. I actually can't remember why I added this book specifically, but I'm pretty sure it showed up in my recommendations. I've read a couple of other books by this author and they were both pretty good, but I seem to have added this to the list before I'd read the others.
95 - Magic Hour. This is another one that I can't really remember why I added, but I think it was also a recommendation list find.

27. Tasteless
56. Rising Tide: Dark Innocence
88. Untamed
95.Silent Crickets
- Have you read the book yet? no none yet
- If you have, how did you rate it?
- If you haven't what's stopping you? reading books for the challenge instead

- 5 - Secret Lives by Diane Chamberlain - I have planned to listen to this one next month. An Oscar-winning actress returns to her native Virginia to script the story of the famous mother she barely knew, but she gets more than she bargained for when her uncle presents her with her mother's private journals. It is a very long audiobook so may be the only one I listen to all month. I love Diane Chamberlain so looking forward to this.
- 27 Kill the Competition - by Stephanie Bond - Escaping to Atlanta to forget her short-lived and disastrous marriage, Belinda Hennessey is rebuilding her life with a new job and new friends, until her life is transformed forever by a traffic mishap with a gorgeous cop and the murder of a co-worker. I've read other books by her that part of a series and enjoyed them.
- 56 The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - I own this one, and realized it will work perfect for 2017 challenge of a story told through letters so I'll save it for them.
- 88 Rebecca - I'm not sure why I haven't gotten around to reading this one yet, but I know it will fit into a couple of categories for next years challenge so will read it then
- 95 Etta and Otto and Russel and James - this book takes place not far from where I live (which there are very few books that do) so - I know this sounds crazy but I'm waiting for a challenge to read something local before I tackle it.

5. Rubyfruit Jungle I've read this a couple of times. It is a gay classic, but I rated it three stars because it is kind of dated and cheesy. Maybe I should revisit it.
27. Stolen Harvest: The Hijacking of the Global Food Supply I also rated this three stars. I read this in college. I don't remember much about it anymore.
56. A Question of Power Surprisingly, I also rated this three stars. I remember this book as so well written, but so oppressive feeling that I could never read it again. Hard to rate.
88. Sacred Vows I haven't read this yet. I just bought it not too long ago and plan to read it this year for my translated book. I have been wanting to learn some Khmer language. This is a bilingual book, so I could use it for practice. I wanted to wait to have a better grasp of the script and some vocabulary before I read this.
95. The Chastening: Inside The Crisis That Rocked The Global Financial System And Humbled The Imf I actually rated this 4 stars. I also was introduced to this in college too. It was interesting and helpful, though a bit too long.

5. The Bachman Books I'm planning on reading all Stephen King's books soon, and I'll include his alias's books, Richard Bachman. There is a lot of them though, which is why I haven't got around to them.
27. Carrie. This was one of the first Stephen King books I've ever read. I think I would rate it 4 stars, but I'm going to re-read it when I read all King's books.
56. Anne of Green Gables I read this book in my childhood and loved it. I would love to re-read the series, maybe next year I will get to reading it again.
88. Animal Farm I've been wanting to read this book for a while, maybe I'll get around to it soon.
95. Artemis Fowl Another series I've been wanting to read. The problem is I have so many series to read, and I don't read series as much. Maybe I will make it a priority next year as well as read all King's books.

Read and rated 4 stars. Loved the movie too.
- 27 The Poisonwood Bible Read and rated 4 stars.
- 56 Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void 5 stars! I love Mary Roach!
- 88 My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel Not read yet. I read another non-fiction book about Israel (I have to check the name) and wanted to learn more so I added a bunch of books to my TBR but haven't gotten to them yet.
- 95 Cane River 5 stars but I don't remember it at all... I think it was maybe one of the original Oprah's Book Club picks so I probably read it 15+ years ago.

5. Tender Is the Night - I am currently reading this for my book referenced in another book category for the ATY challenge (it was referenced in a biography of F Scott Fitzgerald Careless People: Murder, Mayhem, and the Invention of The Great Gatsby). I also try to read 2 classics a month, so I have 5 days left to finish this.
27 - Love in Lowercase - I haven't read this one yet. I saw it at the library a few weeks ago & was immediately intrigued by the idea of a love story of linguist.
56 - A Woman's Dilemma: Mercy Otis Warren and the American Revolution - Pre-GoodReads, I kept a little notebook where I listed every book I ever read. I've been doing this since 7th grade. I recently found that notebook and transferred all the books in it into GoodReads. This is one of those books. I read it in an undergrad history course. 3 stars.
88 - Reader, I Married Him: Stories Inspired by Jane Eyre - This is a new release that I'm insanely excited about. Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books. I have this on hold at the library now, so I'll be reading it soon.
95 - New Girl - This is a YA retelling of Rebecca. I haven't read it yet, but I discovered it while doing research for our topic for next year's challenge: a book based on a classic novel. Maybe I'll read it for next year's challenge.

#5 Solaris I finished this sci-fi classic this week and liked it.
#27 Saga, Volume 6 This is the sixth Volume in the Saga series and I thought it the best - read it July 28th, soon after it came out. I did not use to read graphic novels at all but now I am converted and the Saga series is mostly responsible!
#56 The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I read this a while ago, and we all know it is amazing.
#88 NurtureShock: New Thinking About Children This is an amazing look at parenting, children and psychology in general that will blow your mind. My book club read it and we all loved it and were surprised how many parenting myths were debunked - for example, telling a kid they are smart might backfire - praising them for effort is a better way.
#95 Lost in a Good Book was also read for book club a while ago. While I usually like off the wall humor (love Terry Pratchett and Christopher Moore), Jasper Fforde I find just meh. Clever ideas but too scattered and the characters are flat. This is after reading two of his books and bailing on a third.

#5 Heat & Light is sitting in my "near future" pile. Fracking just grinds my gears, so I feel that it is important to read about it.
#27 H Is for Hawk I enjoy birdwatching. While I have a bit of a soft spot for bluejays, hawks are awesome. We have a Cooper's hawk living in the neighborhood.
#56 Baltasar and Blimunda In a past challenge, I had to read a romance novel. This is not a genre that I read frequently. Okay, I tend to avoid it like the plague. This book, however, is one that I think I would actually enjoy. While I ended up reading Scaramouche for the challenge, I keep this one in reserve. :)
#88 The Lawgiver I have yet to read a Wouk novel, so I keep it on the list.
#95 The Omen Machine I read a SF anthology and loved Goodkind's story. My daughter is an avid fan, so I really have to read it at some point.
And should I ever manage . . .
#528 Storm of Steel This book came highly recommended. When I added it to my shelf, I discovered that another of my daughters also added it to her shelf. It will probably become a mother-daughter activity in the future.

5. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. Read it, loved it, 5 stars.
27. The Blood of Others by Simone de Beauvoir. Haven't read it, but I should.
56. Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. Read it ... meh. I'm not actually sure why it's still on my bookshelf.
88. Everything You Know by Zoë Heller. I haven't read it yet, and it's not a priority. Pretty sure I got it for 1 CHF from a book sale.
95. The Silver Castle by Clive James. I haven't read it, and I don't even remember buying it. I do love him though, so I should read it.

5. Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keyes. Don't really remember much about this book except that I enjoyed it. Gave it 4 stars so I must have really enjoyed it, but I enjoy most of her books.
27. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Started to read this when I was maybe 13 years old and liked it but never finished it, don't remember why. Then I read it again last year for book club (and last year's challenge) and found it good, it makes you think. I also thought this read almost like a play.
56. Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook by Isa Chandra Moscowitz. Haven't really read this one, but I borrowed it from the library a few years ago and browsed through it a little, probably made something from it. Even though I'm not a vegan, we cook a lot of vegetarian and vegan food at home and I eat very little meat. I will probably borrow it again from the library now that I've been reminded of it!
88. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Have never read this, and go back and forth between wanting to read it one day, as I hear it is exceptionally written, and then to not really having the stomach for it.
95. The Walking Dead, Compendium 1 by Robert J Kirkman. Loved this, I gave it 4 stars - it's much better than the TV-series. This is probably what got me into reading graphic novels.

For this activity, you're going to have to find your bookshelf, be it a physical bookshelf, a shelf here on Goodreads, or wherever else that may be. Now the rules are simple. Identify the books found at the following locations and then tell us a little bit about each book:
- 5
- 27
- 56
- 88
- 95
- Have you read the book yet?
- If you have, how did you rate it?
- If you haven't what's stopping you?
If you have fewer than 95 books on your shelf, then feel free to just choose random numbers :)
