What about a Gillian Flynn book? I know she writes mystery books.

We've read a couple of Gillian Flynn books already, I think Dark Places and Sharp Objects.

Alan C Bradley has a great mystery series with the character Flavia de Luce!!! Love it!

Question: the nature of the beast is the first book in a series, so when we pick out our next book, is it going to be the 2nd book in the series? I know that may sound like a stupid question, but I just wanted to ask.

Since this book is in the middle of a series, is it okay to read as its own book and not knowing the previous stories and characters?

I'm pretty sure it's one of those series that you don't have to read in order.
