SOLVED. book set in ancient rome (??) and a servant girl who falls in love with with a army leader and there is also a horse in it [s]

I read this book back in 2012 and I cannot remember the name! I've looked everywhere and I couldn't find anything! Here is basically what I remember about it:
there were three books in the series back in 2012
it was about this servant girl in ancient rome (i think it was ancient rome) who fell in love with a army leader (I'm not sure of his exact rank but I think it was centurion). they kiss in the last paragraph of the third book.
there's a horse in it. in the first book she gets the horse. in the third book she loses it and gets it back again. it's an army horse.
in the second book she is arranged to marry someone else but she runs away.
one time the man saves her when she is kidnapped by barbarians and suffers from a wound in his leg.
there's a guy in it named Draco.
I think the main guy's name starts with "th"

If anyone knows the name of any of the three books it would be wonderful!

YA but more on the younger side of the scale. They were all paperback. The author also has a website but I can't remember what it is called.

I was so sure I knew what this was! Then I read the rest of your post. The book I'm thinking of was only one. It was about Alexander the Great, called I Am the Great Horse

Some details sound different, but your description reminds me of Mark of the Lion Trilogy.

Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread. I've finally found the book! The first book is Minna's Quest and it's part of a trilogy.
