Yes!!! That is exactly where I am....of course I had to out a Facbook blast for all of my friends and family to read the book....but now I am seriously considering cleaning....because the thought of picking up another book is so unappealing.....

At a minimal they should be able to be friends. . I feel for what Ryle has been through, but he seems like he has more than anger issues, he seems a bit bipolar. I know when I read this chapter (view spoiler)[ my heart dropped and the fact that she doesn't want to go to his place of work . After all of this she still is worried about his career. She is a better person than me. I have to say though Stockholm syndrome is definitely in play here. Ms. Hoover did such a good job because I found myself reasoning Ryles actions away like Lily. Her Author's note and acknowledgments were very touching. Powerful, powerful read!! On a softer note to all the emotional pain of Lily and Ryle's relation, as a reader I'm so happy we got the Atlas epilogue. Can this book top my all time favorite Making Faces...for ver personal reasons it just might! (hide spoiler)]

It's funny, I've seen a couple of reviews slamming CoHo on how this wasn't her best writing. I feel like readers are starting to become super critical of both writers and books. Instead of just enjoying the ride, they're picking every little thing apart. Does that make sense? They'll say something about how powerful the message was the that the author's note made them cry, but then kind of trash the book. I get everyone has their own opinions and likes different things, but sometimes I feel bad for popular authors like CoHo because people's expectations become so big. Anyways. Just had to mention it.

I think no matter who the author is or how popular he/she is, there will always be someone who didnt like the book. Thats fine because the author tells the story and if someone doesnt like it oh well. Hopefully they dont take it personally and would focus on the thousands who loved it.

I agree, I actually just read a book and the character was an actress and her teacher told her...."You haven't succeeded until you have critics"....I kinda loved that quote....because its true in any passion you choose to follow. I hope CoHo knows that no matter what people say....its the fact that people are talking that make it and her successful!!
