Princess Caroline waited in her chambers, having heard that she would have a visitor soon. The castle was especially well guarded that day because the visitor was from Terann, and could not be trusted just as yet. The king ordered for Caroline to come down to him.

the young man dismounted his horse as an older woman rode up on her own horse. a wagon was being pulled by said horse. the young man walked over to the guards at the gate. "i am Prince Brian of the Kingdom of Terann and i have come to see your king" he said

The guards shifted the doors open after confirming identities. They were escorted by more armed men just in case, and led them to where their king asked them to take the visitors. Caroline was now sitting next to her father. She still wasn't too keen on this idea of marrying a complete stranger and him being an enemy.

brian walked in the older woman right behind him, both of them carrying some things. brian stopped and bowed

The kings guards stood next to the princess and the King. The princess was dressed in a lovely blue dress, with her tiara on her head. She looked over at their visitors in an annoyed way. She was told before to be polite, but she didn't want to be. She couldn't always act like a princess. The king welcomed them.

"my lord i have brought you and your daughter gifts if you would like them he said grabbing a long object in a silk bag and brought it up to the king "this is the finest sword are finished blacksmith has ever made" he said pulling a katana in it's sheath and held it for him to take

A sword? Caroine had always wanted a sword, but her parents wouldn't let her have one, because it was not lady like to own a sword, especially for a princess. The king accepted the presents.

"and i for you princess, my kingdom's finest seamstress has made a dress made from the rarest of silk, twilight silk, she only needs to take your measurements to make it fit perfectly" he said as he gave her a small bit of the silk. it was pitch black but when the light hit it a light rainbow glow could be seen on it. "there has been only one other dress ever made from this kind of silk" brian said.

Caroline accepted the gift politely, although she wasn't a fan of silk clothes, no matter how rare they were. She looked at the Prince, wondering if he was forced to come here, like she was forced to be sitting here right now. She didn't know anything about him, and wouldn't trust him.

brian moved away and the older woman came up and bowed to the princess

Caroline greeted her politely, the way she was taught to do so by her mother and everyone else. She expected them to say something.

"princess it would be a pleasure to finish the dress for you when you find you have the time to spare" she said

Caroline nodded, "Yes, that would be lovely... But I have something to say. I'm not marrying anyone anytime soon."

the woman moved away

"princess i can understand your disapproval, this was not my idea, it was my father's he wants to end to fighting between our people, so i do this not of love but for the betterment of my people" he said sternly

"See, that's the thing. I'm not willing to marry someone that I don't know, or love or someone who doesn't love me back. I'm not ready to make that kind of sacrifice for anyone, not yet at least. I'm barely eighteen." Caroline started.

"Caroline." the King said firmly. Caroline stood up and asked to be excused before walking away, out of the room,

brian watched her leave "i guess i should go" he said and went to leave

The king stopped him. "No, the wedding will take place. I cannot afford to wage war again." he said. "Our people hope for peace between these two kingdoms of ours."

"as do mine but i don't wish to force her hand" he said turning to the king

"No, son. You're a good lad. You're probably the only fit suitor we have for our daughter. I'll make her understand. The wedding will take place in a fortnight." he declared. "Preparations should start now."

He got up and nodded and left to see Caroline, explaining the importance of everything to her. She gave in and agreed, although she still didn't want to do this. Preparations had started already and the whole kingdom began celebrating.
