"Do you want to walk or take your caR?" He asked.

"Up to you." She said. "You have the presents to carry."
"I think we should take the car," he said.
She nodded and dug out her car keys.
A few minutes later she parked in front of Rebecca's house.
He paused, "we're not drinking tonight, are we?" He asked, just to make sure.
"Then we won't." She smiled assuringly.
She parked and turned off the car.
She locked her car and walked up onto the sidewalk.
He got the presents and took them to the door.
Natalia rang the doorbell for him.
the door knob rattled a little then was pulled open by little Amelia. "Boo!"
She hugged his legs. "Santa came daddy!"
"Come see" She coaxed them inside.
Elian let Natalia in first before following.
Rebecca approached them. "Hey guys. Merry Christmas." She hugged them each.
Elian smiled as he set the presents down and hugged his aunt before picking Amelia up.
Amelia wrapped her arms around his neck. "Did Santa visit you?" She asked.
"I don't know," he laughed. "We never saw him."
"He did." Natalia said with a smile.
She peaked at the gifts he had. "Are those for me?" She blushed cutely.
Elian sat down next to Natalia on the couch.
Amelia brought them a doll. "I got dis!"
"What's her name?" Natalia asked."Hannah." Amelia smiled.
He smiled, "well, welcome to the family, Hannah."
Rebecca touched Elain's shoulder. "I have a gift for you." She said softly.
Elian looked at his aunt, "really?" He asked.
She nodded and handed him an envelope. She sat down across from them in a chair. Inside the envelope was court papers to discuss Elian and Natalia having full custody over Amelia.
Elian cautiously took the envelope and opened it up. He read them over and really, tears welled up in his eyes. "For real?" He asked.
She nodded. "You're happy, healthy and engaged," she explained. "I know you'll be suitable to have Amelia." She said softly.Natalia gaped and looked at the papers.
Elian blinked, trying to clear his vision, "thank you," he said, as more tears welled up. "Thank you," he repeated.
She smiled through her own tears. "Now it's not official unless they say so. This is just a hearing for us to talk about it with a judge," she told him.
Elian nodded as he wiped his tears. "Still," he said and looked at Natalia with a wobbly smile.
"It's a start." Natalia added, then hugged Elian.,
