She's the product of her fathers adultery with a wandering gypsy women.

For some reason, I can't remember, she walking in the streets late at night and meets a carriage carrying a rich nobleman. As these stories go he becomes smitten with her from that encounter.

They meet again. He sleeps with her, gets her pregnant, and wants to marry her. The nobility called the ton would disagree with this union etc.

There's duels, a noblewomen that tricks the male lead into proposing to her, laudanum poisoning, and green eyed bad boys attracted to their best-friends fiance.

The ending I think has them married in an old barn or church in her village.

What's the title if anyone knows. Thanks

Chiquita, what year did you read this book? Ebook?

Any chance it's the hero who is half-gypsy? For example: One Moonlit Night by Samantha James

One Amazon reviewer says, "This is the story of a vicar's daughter, Olivia, who is forced by fate to work for the new Earl of Ravenwood, the half Gypsy, Dominic. Olivia and Dominic first meet by accident, literally, on a moonlite night, hence the title. They are attracted to each other right off the bat, but Olivia has strong feelings of scorn for what she believes Gypsies to be. He father was killed by a Gypsy so this fuels the fire of distrust."

sun | 4 comments No, that's not it,but thank you.

It was a book I checked out from the library many, many years ago.I think it was 1999 early 2000's when I did so.

I was wondering if it would be under my library account, but I checked and there's nothing. Not even for recent books I've checked out. I guess libraries don't keep a record of all the books you've checked out over the years.
