Sheila (sheilaj) Week 10
Old Spot #82 Rolled 10 New Spot #92
Alternative #92~Author E

I'm going with the alternative this week of an E author

Act of Betrayal (Britt Montero, #4) by Edna Buchanan Act of Betrayal by Edna Buchanan
Date Read: 9/17/16
Rating ★★★

This book is number 4 in the Britt Montero series set in Miami, Florida. Britt is the crime beat reporter for the local newspaper. When a man approaches her in desperation to research and write a story about his missing 12 year old son she discovers a pattern of similar disappearances through the years.

Another theme in the book was about Cuba and Castro with Britt's father having been executed decades earlier by Castro. The book seemed pretty outdated (written in 1996) considering recent happenings with Cuba.

Now May You Weep (Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James, #9) by Deborah Crombie

Date Read: 19 Sept
Rating: 4 stars
How it Fits: #9 in Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James
Review:
Another solid addition to the series. The only thing that I hated was the author broke up an important secondary character's marriage. I wish she didn't go that route.

The mystery was good. I didn't guess until the end.. overall, I'm really liking this series. WIll be definitely continuing.

Review

This book was beautiful. The urban fantasy setting was rich and the characters were full of depth and dimension. The romance is believable, the love is fragile and I he action plot and adventure all add up to make this novel a well rounded book.

Kayla,
not to put any pressure on you or anything. But if you can finish your book today and post your review by Today Friday 11:59pm.
your team can hold off on until then and there won't be a need to use the Free Pass.

However, if you have REal Life issues and can't read, then you can't read. It's just a game and should never impinge on your real life.
That's the only thing I can think of, that would allow you all to re-roll

But again, it's just a game, so I don't want you to feel pressured at all because Life happens.

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 2160 comments I agree with Ezi, Kayla.

Ezi would I have to re~roll?

Kayla,
I don't want you to compromise yourself or your health or job or whatever is going on. There is no money involved in winning, it's just fun reading. So don't feel like you need to read.

@Angie,
yes, you would have to re-roll AFTER she posts.

Sheila (sheilaj) Week 11
New Spot #103

The Jury Master (David Sloane, #1) by Robert Dugoni The Jury Master by Robert Dugoni
(David Sloane #1)
Date Read: 9/23/16
Rating ★★★

First in the David Sloan series and a lot is going on. David is a slick criminal defense attorney that gets a not so nice guy off in his trial.

At the same time a close friend and confidant of the president is found dead of apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. But when the local law enforcement start to investigate the FBI swoops in.

This book had a little bit of everything from government conspiracies to drug cartels in Mexico.

I loved this book it was amazing. What I love about this author is that she draws you into a web of deceit, lies, desire, and passion. From the first page you are drawn into the story and there are a lot of unexpected twists shocking secrets reveled that leave you stunned.

The Price of a Bride by Michelle Reid

Date Read: 26 September
Rating: 4 stars
How it Fits: Standalone
Review:
I was looking for a short, angsty read and Michelle Reid is not one to disappoint. I've read some of her older ones when I was in the mood and with a HQN, it was pretty much what I expected from her. The characterizations are strong though the only thing that we need to suspend disbelief a bit is when the two leads fall in love. A good read.

Review: hawkins never lets me down. This was a reread for me and oh how wonderful it was. I loved the characters all over again and the relationship that forms between the main characters. Hawkins is a wonderful hilarious older lady that makes these books fabulous. I cant wait to keep reading this series.
