Taylor | 87 comments Quest Accepted - Practice Makes Perfect

Technology is a wonderful thing... usually... when it works. But most of the time it's good... really. The local tinkerer has a new toy that he wants to have you try out. He promises it's better than the auto-rat tail generator that got into an infinite loop and nearly filled the whole castle with fake rat tails.

All he needs is a few items and it will be perfect! He swears.

Collect the following parts to acquire a "Growth Weapon Enhancement" Bauble:
• Gear - Read a book with something gear driven on the cover.
• Cog - Read a book with a 3 letter word in the title.
• Spring - Read a book where someone bounces back from a setback.
Wire - Read a book with something metallic on the cover.
Energy - Read a book with a light or sun on the cover.
Anti-Matter - Read a book where something exists that no one believes in.
• Matter - Read a book with an inventor.
• Screw - Read a book where someone builds something physical.
• Circuit - Read a book where someone is a geek.
• Conductor - Read a book where someone travels by train.

Receive 5 experience and a Growth Weapon Enhancement bauble. The growth weapon enhancement bauble will increase damage each turn in battle by 1 for a single weapon. (First Turn +1, Second Turn +2, Third Turn +3). Quest may be repeated once for a bauble for your other weapon. When calculating values based on attack power of weapon, each round it must be re-evaluated.

Taylor | 87 comments Quest Accepted - Two Empty Halves of Coconuts

An important step in any young knights life is his first horse. Actually, once you get a horse you don't take nearly as many steps. So maybe it's really the beginning of the end of steps is acquiring a horse. No matter what, it's a good thing to do.

To acquire a horse you must have perseverance, persistence, perspicacity, performance, perfume and various other per related things.

Find all the items to receive your very first horse.
1) Gold to Buy Horse - Read a book with a mainly gold cover or one set in an era where gold is used as the main currency.
2) Riding Clothes - Read 3 books under 200 pages.
3) Horseshoes - Read a book with horses as a main part of the story or one set on a farm.
4) Horse Armor - Read a book over 600 pages.
5) Saddle - Read a book that has 2 d's in the title.
6) Sugar for Treats - Read a book that's sweet (chic lit, romance, cozy mystery, etc.)
7) Apples for Treats - Read a book with a mainly red cover or one featuring a teacher.
8) Carrots for Treats - Read a book where someone dangles a reward to get someone else to do something.
9) Hay for Feeding - Read a book with the title starting with the letter H.
10) Bribe for the Stable Master to allow you to pick your horse - Read a book where someone takes or gives a bribe or where the main character is a thief.

You may choose 1 of two horses. You may also name him as he is now your horse.
Horse 1 is an American Quarter Horse built for speed. He will speed up your common monster respawn time by 1 day (6 days instead of 7).
Horse 2 is a Baroque Horse built for attack. He will give you 1 extra attack to both your weapons.

Taylor | 87 comments Quest Accepted - One Shield to Rule Them All

One Shield to rule them all, One Shield to find them,
One Shield to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Broken Spines where the Shadows lie.

A shield has been recovered from the depths of the Great Novel Forest. It is rusted and grimy but radiates a great power. The local blacksmith speaks of a legend of 5 Gems of Power that when inserted into a powerful shield will grand the user many boons.

He then offers his services (up to 25% off and more!) to polish up the shield you found in hopes that it may at least make a good pastry plate.

The blacksmith needs some steel wool (a grey covered book) to polish the shield and smooth oil (a smooth book) to make it shine.

Then you must find the 5 Gems of Power and insert them into your shield: White, Purple, Blue, Red, and Green.

Reward: One Shield - Negates one attack point from physical enemy attacks.

The Gems must be activated to achieve their full power.

Taylor | 87 comments Quest Accepted - Lady Rachel's Debut

The local theatre offers an open practice session to allow Novelarians the chance to see free performances and the actors the chance to practice in front of a live audience. You saunter in to get out of the sweltering heat outside and start to eat your giant turkey leg and side of tomato. Lady Rachel is up on the stage facing a grubby little trained pet goblin when she trips over her skirt and falls backwards. The director yells at her, "You're supposed to kill the goblin! Not the other way around!" Both Lady Rachel and the goblin stare at the director. Seeing the opportunity to help, you jump up (spilling your turkey leg and tomato onto the floor) and announce that you know how to make a great goblin sword that can easily pretend to smite a pet goblin. Running out of the room you go and search for the materials.

Gather 3 goblin bones then read a book with a grey cover to gather the metal then forge the metal and goblin bones together with a book that has fire (exact word, though may be part of a larger word) in the title or series. The director will gladly pay you 10 gold for setting the show back on track.

Taylor | 87 comments Quest Accepted - Sticks and Stones May Build a House

The local barracks are getting a bit stuffy for your sensitive knightly tastes and you're looking to expand into something more cushy that can house your collection of miniature poodle figurines.

Steps to build house:
1) Clear Spot - Read a book set in the plains. (Any plains.)
2) Make Foundation - Read a book about someone getting an education to build their foundation.
3) Gather Wood - Read a book mainly set out in the woods.
4) Gather Nails - Read a book with something pointy on the cover (knife, nail, stiletto, etc.)
5) Create Frame - Read a book where someone is framed for a crime.
6) Create Walls - Read a book where someone is closed off from the world either mentally or physically.
7) Add a Door - Read a book where someone moves houses.
8) Add Windows - Read a book with Glass, Window, Clear or See in the title.
9) Paint - Read a book where the cover is mainly (>70%) one color.
10) Garden - Read a book with flowers on the front.

Choose one of the two available houses to add to your possessions.

You get 2 experience for 4 steps completed, another 2 when 7 steps are completed and another 3 when all 10 are completed. Houses give you an excellent place to store things.
