I'm sending lots of hugs to everyone who needs it. Please take care of yourselves and don't be shy to reach out for help. I know that that isn't always the easiest thing to do, but there are friends/family that can help.My cat passed away 3 years ago, when he was 16 years old and I'm still grieving. I had him since kitten and he was just wonderful. I'm still surrounded by my other animals, but there's not a day that I don't think about Spike. I know he's in my heart and looking over my shoulder in everything I do.
I'm so sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time Olivia. That's understandable that it's harder to read, you've got a lot of real life things to process. Plus, pets are as much family as human relatives, their loss equates to a person you love passing away. Take care of yourself. <3

I am devastated every time I lose a pet. (Heck! I mourned when my neighbor's cat passed away.)
This is my nephew and I am so proud of him!https://x.com/TheDannyCage/status/181...
He just started training earlier this year and he is doing so well! Both of my nephews are going to The Monster Factory, I can't wait to see the things these boys do <3

That is so cool! I have no idea what he's doing but it takes a lot of guts at that age to get up on stage with a microphone by himself! Go your nephew!!

There is a pro wrestling school near us and he is in their youth program wants to become a pro wrestler. Part of what they teach them is how to do a promo and of course he is a heel, the kid has been talking trash since he was a small child lol
Funny anecdote about him - They went on vacation to Canada when he was younger and he asked if he would have to change his name (Myles) to Kilometers while they were there lol

I still don’t know how to access/use discord, and every time someone mentions it I remember that I don’t know how to use it and then feel older than dirt.

Oh no! What's wrong with the ellipses???
I love discord, but I use it a lot for online Dungeon & Dragons games. But yeah. My texts are probably very 90s/2000s too. I don't know any of the trends nowadays XD
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "I still don’t know how to access/use discord, and every time someone mentions it I remember that I don’t know how to use it and then feel older than dirt.."It's an app for your phone/desktop/laptop that you install and then create an account to access. I'm not sure if it has a web interface.
Also don’t understand Discord. I’ll get into something and once I see something about Discord, I drop out, put in my false teeth and leave at 3:30 for dinner. This dog is unwilling to learn new tricks. I’m only 40. 🤔

Apparently, "Boomer Ellipses" is a term coined to refer to the fact that people used to use Ellipses to say multiple things in a single text message, back when cell phones charged you by message sent/received instead of being unlimited...
I wasn't even an avid texted, I started doing it in guild chat in online video games and now it's "my thing"... once every year or 2 I have to explain that to someone... I've explained it multiple times in this one gaming server with alot of rules now...

Discord is the messaging app that's replaced IRC chat rooms and voice chat apps like Ventrilo and Teamspeak for alot of gaming chat needs... also kinda killing off alot of wikis and gaming forums, for the convenience...
You CAN access discord servers from your browser, but most people use the desktop/mobile app, and if you have the app, then browser links redirect to the app, to add servers to your profile/account for easy future access...

Hate to say it but ellipses are firmly Gen-X not boomers. I actually saw a TikTok about this recently, if I can find it I'll post it lol
I joined the Tarot Sequence Discord and there were way too many notifications and I was like nope, turned notifications off and haven't touched it since lol

Oh my gosh. rip. I don't even think it's that bad!!
For you peeps who don't know discord that well, that's okay. But it is a great online hub for multiple hobbies. There are even book discord channels! Even if I use it mostly for roleplaying games. It has a lot of options for multiple text threads. And voice channels. It's whatever you want it to be really. I feel like they're just big online lobbies basically. If that makes sense. lol. Like an old school chat room even XD
Ann-Marie wrote: "I joined the Tarot Sequence Discord and there were way too many notifications and I was like nope, turned notifications off and haven't touched it since lol"I do that for a lot of them too ^^;
Too many notifications sometimes!!
Then I found you can just click hold and do "mark as read" darn little markers XD

I got the app cuz I wanted to join things but I think a lot of stuff is by invitation and I didn’t even know what I wanted to do with it, let alone how to get an invite. I gave up on it.
I am 31 and as yet I don't have issue keeping up with the new stuff although ofc some new lingo is flying over my head. But I am definitely starting with the "oh no the younger generation is so bad" complains :D So I am just waiting till it's my time to feel lost. But I think I was born at the right time to remember time before smartphones and constant connection but also to still grow up with it in my teens and feel comfortable with technology.

As a teacher, I just want to say--I really appreciate how folks in this community know how to use punctuation, capitalization, and spelling... And that ellipses are totally legit ways of mimicking real speech patterns.
I use ellipses all the time...Yeah, punctuation. Round here the street names have had their apostrophes surgically removed. Queen's Road, named after Queen Victoria, has become Queens Road, but I look in vain for all the women wearing robes and crowns — and there aren't noticeably more gay men in that road than any other.
I'm 71. I still don't have a smartphone. TikTok is the sound my clock makes. Some of the things I write are in Latin. (Yes, really.) You kids should worry... :)
I don’t have a computer…really. Our household does but the boys use it for gaming. So my phone is my only lifeline. I basically use it to play games, listen to audiobooks/podcasts and and chat with you fine folks.

I would not give up my smart phone for the ease in texting if nothing else!
Im here for apps, but use ipod mostly these days… maybe next phone I will like and carry everywhere again…
I am of the generation that grew up with mobile phones, you'd have to surgically remove it from me. Imagine holding a whole world of information at your fingertips! Anything that pops into your head you can immediately look up! Yep... It's amazing.
But TikTok, that's too far.
:D
Timelord Iain wrote: "This broke me: https://m.youtube.com/shorts/bf0pa71VmRE"Good grief. One generation's tragedy is another generation's humour. So it goes.
We watched Flight 93 a week or two ago. Should be compulsory viewing for the young.

TikTok is like YouTube used to be for me, watch one video then look up and 2 hours have passed! I love it though lol

Actually Jean has a smartphone (Galaxy Note9), but only uses it for taking photos. Neither she nor I can cope with reading/typing on a screen that small. But I do love my Kindle Paperwhite (with a large font).
Yeah, my thumbs are dumb and I hate typing on those little things... and I don't like to be accessible--if people want to talk to me I want them to actually try to talk to me... I also like the brain challenge of researching and remembering--or remembering to do research later--than instant lookup. Definitely grouping with older generations on this! I can see why people love their phones so much though--I feel that attachment to my computer... and my book...
I can agree with that. I hate how accessible I am with the phone. That’s why I never answer the phone. Ever. I can’t stand talking on the phone. But I respond to texts immediately.
Reminds me of when I used to tell people I didn’t have a mobile phone; they’d look confused and ask “But if you’re not home, how can people get hold of you?”My response was always “They can’t. That’s kind of the point.”
I get the same reaction when I tell people I don't bring my phone to work/etc (cause I don't like it and it's bulky and has slow wifi/data... so slow pandora fails to connect half the time)... anyway, I haven't brought my phone to work in like 2 years, and if unexpected people text me it can take a week to respond... I have it on Do Not Disturb, unless you're in my address book, and very few people are in my address book...
So, anyway... a few weeks ago my workplace tried to get us to attach ID photos to our workday accounts/profiles... and the only way they knew how to do it was from phone/mobile app... not having a phone with my stymied them, and now everyone has forgot about it I think, and I've kept from having to post a photo... I I haven't posted a photo of myself online since like 2007... why would I want to break the streak? :D

Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I hope you're holding on, that's such a difficult diagnosis and such an awful moment (not like there ever is a good moment) to lose such a long-term companion.
