Janice wrote: "John Perry in Ghost Brigades would fit the strong character challenge."Just hope none of the buddy readers are partnered.
Edit: Just looked and John isn't in this one. He is just mentioned. Jane is in it, but it seems the MC is a new person, Jared Dirac. He seems like he would work for the challenge too.
I had it in my list too but it's not my first choose. I'm trying to find some more obscure characters for the challenge.
I think any of those characters in the Old Man War series would work. That might be one of the few series that switches main characters. So if Jaren Dirac is the MC of Ghost Bridges someone could read the first book in the series in which John Perry is.Another series is Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad. Frank Mackie would be a strong character. So would Antoinette Conway in The Trespasser. In fact, she'd be a great opponent. She put up with so much pressure from her fellow detectives and never caved in.
Sarah wrote: "I had it in my list too but it's not my first choose. I'm trying to find some more obscure characters for the challenge."I know what you mean Sarah. I obviously don't read many books with tough alpha characters - nothing sprang to mind. I'm thinking of branching out and reading something I wouldn't normally pick up. I will definitely read the Old Man's War series (that's a given) so John doesn't feel like enough of a challenge...
The author recently brought my attention to A Subtle Agency, which was free on Amazon and a recent addition to my TBR list. This is not my normal genre to say the least, but I'm willing to give it a go.
Apparently it features a bad-ass vampiress and is NOT a paranormal romance... more of a vampire action-packed thriller book. I may be intrigued enough to try it. (I've sort of talked my way into it... but this may change)
Thanks for the tip though Janice..
