Review: Frustrating. Just like all of the others. I could probably stop reading them right here and be alright with that, apart for the fact that they're super easy reads, they're quick, they're short, and I've been meaning to get to the end for so long. I just need to persevere. Once again, Poe just pisses me off, which I think we can all agree on. He's the most useless character ever invented. As soon as he turned up I just facepalmed and was like 'well here goes nothing'. Did he not come in a car?? Could he not chase down Olaf? And now (view spoiler)[he's got the Quagmires and no one seems to care? (hide spoiler)] Not cool. I'm getting sick of the writing style, Sunny speak, the definitions. I mean, some of the comparisons still made me laugh, but I think I'm just a little too old for these now. Doesn't mean I'll stop though.

I loved Charles, he's one of the few decent human beings in there. And I would like to see the woman with hair but no beard and the man with a beard but no hair - they sounded even more villanous than Olaf and I want to know why. But I feel like we're seeing them in the next book, and not in this one. What about you?
At this point I think we will never know who's Ernest and who's Frank, and I kind of feel OK with it, it goes along well with the moral greyness the characters are displaying in the book.

- I did not expect this to go as dark as it did. I know it's bleak and everything, but making your main characters 'accidental murderers' in a children book series takes courage. I think it was done very well, though, so I'm happy - just a bit surprised.
- (This is the first of these books I'm actually reading, the others were audiobooks, so maybe that changes my perspective of things. How did you feel about Dewey's death?)
- I'm really enjoying all these conversations they're having on who's the villain and who's the hero.

The Baudelaires running off with Olaf was the last thing I had in mind, but somehow was fitting.
Also the MWBBNH and the WWHBNB appeared. I want to know more about them, we'll see in the next book. As I told you before I've got a feeling they'll have more space.
And something I forgot to write yesterday, but what do you think of the last paragraphs of the penultimate chapter? Because to me they contained some of the most beautiful writing of the entire series. (hide spoiler)]

-I was thinking the same way! It was so risky; it was clearly an accident, they are not guilty of his death, but it was surprising. We were told something bad would happen with the gun (and if you have a fun, that can also be expected) but I did not see it happening that way.
-I also read some of them as audiobooks and they were a lot of fun! This one must have been difficult to record with all those characters.
