Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments I usually do a yearly reread of the Harry Potter series in the winter. I was wondering if anyone fancied BR them with me this year? I was thinking we could start in October and read all 7 staggered throughout the 3 months.

Does anyone want to BR the Arcane Ascension books with me. I loved the first one and I'm thinking of rereading it and then reading the second which was released last month. They are:

Sufficiently Advanced Magic
On the Shoulders of Titans

Fab, so I was thinking since the first 3 are so short and the last 4 are bigger books we can leave more time between the final 4 books. I was thinking something like:

Philosophers Stone - October 1st
Chamber of Secrets - October 8th
Prisoner of Azkaban - October 15th
Goblet of fire - October 22nd
Order of the Phoenix - November 5th
Half Blood Prince - November 26th
Deathly Hallows - December 17th

Is that okay?

Oh man, I've been wanting to re-read the Harry Potters! But I'm not sure I could keep up with that pace, unless I solely read in the Potterverse for a couple months, forsaking all other books. I might join you for the first one or two though.

Yay! It's fine if you're a bit late for them, I'll still be around reading comments etc :) last year I scheduled quite a few BR for the end of the year and I ended up reading nothing but HP so I thought this year I'd schedule them in and save myself the hassle.

I am so sorry for being late in responding! I am good at any time you guys want to read it. I would love to schedule the read from October on (mostly because I am trying to pace other readings) but I am really in for any date. This books will trump any other plan, I am most certain of it!

I might even join in the HP re-read! It has been so long!

So I ran the math, and reading all the Harry Potters in 3 months equals roughly 38 pages per day. I pretty consistently read 50 pages a day, so if I join for all of them and keep up that leaves me around 1,000 non-HP pages during the time period. Seems doable. I just need to be proactive in finishing up some other series before that. :)

And I am looking forward to the BR with you!

Bea | 2050 comments I've been wanting to reread The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion for a while.
Anybody in for a buddy read in August or September?

message 2989: by Zaara (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments @Bea I can read the Silmarilion with you but in October, if you don't mind waiting a bit longer.

@all
Iniya and I just decided to read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society starting on the 1st of July. If more people want to join in then we will request a thread from the mods....

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments Bea, I recently read The Fellowship of the Ring, but I'd be up for doing Two Towers and Return of the King some time later this year.

message 2991: by Bea (new)

Bea | 2050 comments @Zaara: I don't mind, this isn't a pressing read so I'm theoretically good with any date after August as well :)

@C.P.: as I just said, I'm open to suggestions for any dates :) do you already have in mind when you want to read them?

message 2992: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments I don't have a specific time. I could maybe do one in September and then the other in October or November.

How about 5th September and 5th October? The dates are random so we could also change them in case they should collide with some of your BRs :)

I don't know if I qualify as a harsh critic, but I do think it's a solidly good fantasy.

Olivia (vinjii) | 1144 comments We've got a few that are interested in the Wars of Light and Shadow series, starting with The Curse of the Mistwraith to start at some point...anyone got any wishes re schedule?

Me personally I'm very flexible with this one, since it would be a re-read.

Also, still looking to read Shadows of the Apt by Adrian Tchaikovsky at some point (am in no rush, and don't mind later in the year or even 2019) it's 10 books!
