Its a teen romance novel. I think it involves the main guy being a demon or something. He has tattoos that come alive from his skin to protect/fight. One of the tattoos is a snake. The main girl is part demon too (I think).

Sounds like 'I am number four' to me. I can recall something similar with that book...but I maybe wrong. That reply was to the original post =)

To me it sounds like White Hot Kiss. The Demons name is Roth and he has tattoos that come alive from his skin, one of them being a snake. The girl, Layla is half demon/half gargoyle.
