Yes, that's the main reason. :P
I've to be picky when it comes to reading with you or you get distracted so easily. -_-

do it then, one book a year is an achievable goal.;):P

I don't understand why readers pressurise an author so much for releasing the next book in a series. I get the love, the excitement; hell I'm excited too. But cut the man some slack and let him do what he does best in his own way. Rothfuss himself admitted he was not pleased with himself when the 2nd book got delayed beyond his announced date. Damn, it kinda reflects in the book too. As such, he didn't declare any such date for the 3rd one and boo! look at how his fans are screaming on top of their throats! These very ones would be the first to cuss out loud when the book turns out badly. -_-

Haha! Check Pat's smartass reply to the five star ratings on his unreleased book. XD
I love this man!

@Polo : Hahahah!! Oh yeah I remember reading that!! His reply is truly epic and hilarious. He even asked to mail him the digital copy as he'd like to see ..."
Lol, yeah! XD
Saw the ice bucket one too..He is so adorable, haha.. :D

Book: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Synopsis: Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the color yellow.
Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, for fifteen-year-old Christopher everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning. He lives on patterns, rules, and a diagram kept in his pocket. Then one day, a neighbor's dog, Wellington, is killed and his carefully constructive universe is threatened. Christopher sets out to solve the murder in the style of his favourite (logical) detective, Sherlock Holmes. What follows makes for a novel that is funny, poignant and fascinating in its portrayal of a person whose curse and blessing are a mind that perceives the world entirely literally.

You were supposed to start early, Abhayshree!
No problem, I'll race you ahead. *puts on sunglasses*
LOL..

I'll rip that blanket off your head. Don't push me. -_-

I saw your 5-star review, Smitha.. and my motivation to pick it up went up a few more notches. :)

Abby, I hope you started and didn't doze off.
I was just adoring my paperback. It's an old used copy and it looks so beautiful. The red pages. The sudden appearance of a particular page(s) when you try opening it because probably its ancestors before me kept coming back to it every now and then. Feels great. (^__^)

That gesture of his father touching hands with Chris to show that he loves him, because he doesn't like being hugged. Awww.. That was so touching. :)
Chris is autistic, right? The signs seem so.
He is like Don Tillman from the Rosie Project, just a bit more extreme.

The thing about metaphors, that they should be actually called lies- very interesting thought, if we look at it from his point of view. Though, not saying I'm against the beauty of metaphors.
When he questions his own name, wondering what St. Christopher was called before he carried Jesus and arguing that his name should mean himself instead of others- I like the way his mind formulates answers and puts up innovative alternatives.
Also about the Milky Way being a disc. He even drew it, haha! :D

BTW there is a chapter with major Hound Of Baskerville spoilers
If u haven't read th..."
I have read it!! It was one of my favorie horror books and also the first Sherlock novel that I can remember to have read. :D

Where have you reached"
I'm at the part where his father arrives.
Abby, your profile says you added a book named The curious incident of the Dog in the nightdress instead of this one.
:P :P

The dog is dead and you want to move him around in a night dress.. *shakes head*

You'd bought 2nd hand copy of this book too? mark haddon wala I mean"
Yes.. Butterfly Books on Amazon.

Where reached?
I'll go get dinner and then we can discuss."
Yessss :P
Reached the part where Christopher is talking of becoming an astronaut and the psychiatrist says that he can't because he doesn't take orders well. And he says it's okay to dream of things that are unlikely to happen.
I'll read more later. Sure, we can discuss afterwards. :)

The continuous string of dialogue leading to long sentences punctuated by 'and' makes it seem like one written by a child. Alongwith uncomplicated words or metaphors, as Chris would say.
Quite liking the book.

Yeah, it's incredible. Let's see how he unravels this mystery.
(view spoiler)
What do you think about Christopher's father? Was he being too hard on him at times?

Sorry, I've been distracted the last couple of days. :-/
Will try finishing the book today.
Can you believe this is real? You, Abby, the laziest bee, reading a book in a day like Flash and me sloth-ing for a week? Achhe din aa gaye. *cries tears of joy*

I think the working of the brain of an autistic child is more like machinery, unlike normal humans. Like when he explains why he doesn't like crowded places because he can't concentrate on a single thing and there is a lot of information to absorb. That explains why he groaned and threw a fit in the shopping mall with his mother. It's just like that example he cited of computers crashing down because of too much work.

Maybe those were intentional then. But I don't get it why. Was his mother of a different dialect or something? Maybe because she was not used to writing letters?
Or maybe simply keeping it realistic. But that wasn't very necessary. I was itching to take my pen and correct it. :P

The other day, there was this guy in Haiku who wrote, "Plz be with me." Another girl added, "Until I learn to spell." I added, "Stop forming words, my own."
:P
And here there are spelling mistakes, which is more gross for an almost-OCD like me. -_-

:P :P
That was so cute.
