(view spoiler)[ oh Aspen. Reading things from his point of view is the same, but also kind of different. Throughout the series after he got to the palace he was always pretty straight forward about his intentions so we didn’t need to be in his head to clear anything like that up. What I enjoyed the most were his interactions with America’s maids. It seems like they all found comfort in each other - people they could be themselves with. I feel like this is where things started with him and Lucy - especially her thanking him basically for being so kind and treating them like equals. I just can’t help but picture as this cute petite little timid girl. The thought of her being slightly bashful and nervous, but approaching Aspen all the same makes me smile (: (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ so here I am....sitting at my mechanic waiting for my car and as I finish this story I’m seriously sitting here grinning like a fricken idiot. Luckily there is only one other person in here and he’s pretty focused on his own stuff 😂😂 I absolutely LOVED hearing Marlee and Carter’s story. While there was the bad of course I couldn’t help but feel my heart swell at how in love they were. Seeing how much Maxon really did help them too - visiting in their cells. Providing them with medicine. Swapping places with people in the palace - finding people who were from Panama (where Marlee and Carter were being exiled to) who wanted to return home. He really did think of a great solution. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I’m sure basically everyone started out disliking Celeste and in my opinion - rightfully so. This little story was so great to watch her transform from basically a self centered bitch to an actual caring person. I most loved reading the part of her dismissal - she really had changed and seemed as though she had learned quite a bit about herself too. Having read the other books in the series I know how things ended for her and it’s quite sad. I really do hope we see something in future stories about her - any kind of closure. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ fun little short stories. Lucy and Aspen really are super cute. Though it was a hard thing for both Lucy and Maxon to find out it obviously was necessary. People can grow and their love for each other changes - even if it’s replaced by a different kind of love.

I kept wondering how America was going to tell Maxon what she had done with Aspen, but I guess it didn't really matter how it happened because Maxon was furious either way. Also, I cannot believe Celeste died:( I was beginning to love her character, and she would've been an amazing friend to America. I'm not surprised the king got killed off, I feel like it was the only option because he was a tyrant. Overall, I loved the book, on to The Heir! (hide spoiler)]

I can't believe she kissed Henri!! I kinda thought that after her moment with Eric, she would be more into him than Henri, but it was sweet nonetheless.

Also, I really don't know what is happening with the public and the uproar with trying to get rid of the monarchy :( it's so hard to please people. (hide spoiler)]

I legit kept reading because I wanted to get more interesting, but I was so disappointed. It's clear Eadlyn needs to be more open, and it's not like anyone is telling her she can't be, it's only herself. I just felt like she was the reason the selection was going so badly. I'm really confused about her emotions with Eric, Henri, Hale, and Kile. I kinda feel like she is really liking Eric, but it's so hard to tell.

Secondly, I can't believe America got a heart attack, I swear is Kiera Cass kills her off I'm gonna be so angry😭 (hide spoiler)]

I have to admit, the ending was a bit rushed to me. I feel like everything kinda happened in the last 8 pages. But in a way I'm happy it took so long because this was my first buddy read and it's been so much fun :) I'm so sad it's over now😭

(view spoiler)[ I can't honesty sort out how I feel about this one. Like I really want to like Eadlyn and I love the idea of a selection of males as well as seeing the selection from the side of her vs the selected (like we did with America) but I still am having a hard time with Eadlyn's attitude, but I know I've mentioned before - what do we expect she is a royal and she did grow up basically without the caste systems. She didn't experience things the way America did and that's one thing that brought us to love her.
I was wanting more with the selected boys though. I feel like we don't really know them very well and still sometimes I have to look for clues when she brings up certain names because I don't feel as though they've had as large a role in the story. I'm wanting to grow a little more connected to them.
Ending with her heart attack and Ahren's leaving - I really want to know how this impacts things and boy oh boy I hope America makes it through this and lives a long happy life. I can't stand to lose her character - I'm such a nerd..... hahaha (hide spoiler)]

I have to say that I feel like this book is focusing more on Eadlyn’s ruling than it is on the Selection. I get that we’ll see more of that being in this side of the story and of course she is spending a lot of time with that since her mom and dad are out of the picture for a while. (view spoiler)[ I was totally surprised by Hale’s confession of his feelings for Ean! I mean it explains how he’s been lately - kind of lost in his own little world. I love that he came to Eadlyn tho - honesty was best and it’s pretty great that he wasn’t scared to come forward. Or at least had accepted that bad could happen. Kudos to Eadlyn for handling it the way she did. I like that we’re finally seeing that she has actual FEELINGS!

I haven’t touched on this yet, but I really like the ideas of the one on one and meeting with the people of illea and all locations. It’s important for people to know they’re being heard especially among huge changes that impact everyone in different ways.

Now. Let’s move on to Erik. I honestly had this little inkling from day one like what if these 2 hit it off?
