Review: Woooow this book was so crazy! Just as amazing as all of the others. Still don't know why most people wish it stopped at The One. They are all awesome to me. The one big plot twist in this book had to be (view spoiler)[Ean and Hale being gay!!! (hide spoiler)] I so did not see that coming one little bit! And I'm so pleased that at the end (view spoiler)[she chose Erik. That was incredible. (hide spoiler)] And finding out that Lady Brice (view spoiler)[wasn't Daphne's daughter, like I'd assumed, and that she was actually Maxon's half-sister! That's crazy! (hide spoiler)] So sad to know that this is the last one in the series :( I can't wait to keep up with all of Cass's future books. I know The Siren didn't compare much, but this series was incredible.

I know that American definitely has feeling for Maxon, but I feel that the fact that Aspen is in the palace and she hasn't said anything to him about that (and their little rendezvous/make out session) is going to come back and bite her in the ass. I'm STILL sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for it tho!

It’s so sad that they got caught and yes, at least they weren’t punished with death, but still was a horrific scene 😔 I can only hope that in the future America is able to connect with Marlee and save her from a lifetime of hurt (hide spoiler)]

The Queen novella - I read this after reading The Elite (in case my comment may have spoilers for The Selection and The Elite)
(view spoiler)[ I listened to this one and the narrator had quite the accent, but after a bit it didn’t phase me. I’m reading this in a bit of a weird order so having the knowledge of the king throughout the Selection and the Elite it’s weird seeing him as a teenager. And now with knowing how he treats his wife and his son - as well as how he spoke to America I was kind of taken aback with his reaction of how his father spoke to his mother. Like is it the job or what?!
I liked how there were places that you could see the girls coming together and standing up for each other - kind of like the girls and America. I mean I suppose if you’re living with a group of people you’re bound to grow close....or hate them 😂 don’t think there’s an in between (hide spoiler)]

It honestly had me shocked and I didn't expect her to have an affair. but I was noticing how officer carter kept randomly appearing in scenes, and I was wondering his significance. also, I'm getting kind of annoyed with america, like I get that she is having trouble deciding, but it totally is not fair that she is still kissing aspen after telling maxon she wanted to be with him.

and another thing lol, she is like constantly here or there with maxon, like sooo insecure with her feelings. i feel like he's been so patient with her, and she's getting so worked up if he doesn't spend a day with her. i hope things get better soon :( (hide spoiler)]

I don't think i'm team maxon anymore, it's honestly so so sooo bothersome how quickly he and Kriss became close. he literally proclaimed how deeply he felt for America, and she trusted him and put all her eggs in his basket. now i can understand why she keeps going to aspen, because of all these mixed signals. I would hate to be with someone who has become so invested in another girl, i know it's a part of the selection but it seems so painful :( this book is literally making me feel all the emotions americas feeling, i legit am hurt lol. I was literally so frustrated the entire time with this book. everyone being so indecisive was driving me nuts. also I was super irritated with Maxon and how he in the beginning he was sooo in love with America and he would've done anything for her, but when they were in the safe room together, he literally had given up and was just okay with not having her. but america also annoyed me cause she was screaming about going home and ruined the televising event with her presentation, but then was like shook when Maxon was like "yeah you're definitely gonna go home".

Alright - lets talk about Aspen now. As hard as a conversation about this with Maxon would’ve been it definitely would have been better than him seeing them so close and drawing his own conclusions. I don’t know if he is really going to marry Kriss now - but I’m sure worried about it.
Oh and the whole America’s dad being a rebel and now finding out that Kriss is one too? This almost makes it harder because I’m sure Kriss and Maxon really could do big things as well...

It was kind of interesting seeing the same scenes, but from Maxon’s pointe of view. Of course it had to be crazy stressful and intimidating. I also didn’t realize (tho it doesn’t surprise me) how large of a role his father played in everything including choosing most of the girls.
I love how after everything America did Maxon soon realized why she did it and/or the positive (not being afraid to stand up to him, willing to defend herself, etc.) (hide spoiler)]

I started to think something was a little off when it was mentioned how the guards weren’t as groomed or seeming as attentive as they usually were. I didn’t piece together that those who were thought to have abandoned post were actually probably killed for their uniform.
Killing off the king and Queen was super sudden, but lord knows the king would’ve been a handful if/when Maxon chose America.
