Hi Roxanne :) I'm not sure we set a specific goal but this is a reread for me so I'll probably finish the book in a day or two. I'll still check in and keep up with your updates if you want to read it a little slower, though.

I'm going to be a bit late on this one. There's been super bad flooding by me. Fortunately it hasn't affected me at all but I can't get home from my boyfriend's house as all the roads to where I live are closed. Will begin this as soon as I can, though.

First quarter - (view spoiler)[This is my second time reading this book and it is every bit as incredible as I remembered. I loved learning of Jess' family business and his tough childhood as a runner. The focus quickly moved to the library and this was just as fascinating. I adore fantastical academy settings and so am loving learning of all their teachings under Wolfe. He is one tough master! Also, I wonder what he saw in Jess that had him so intrigued, as he handled transferring the real books into the codex? (hide spoiler)]

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[It is surprising to see how much I had forgotten about this! The excerpts and documents that intersperse Jess' perspective reveal that the new girl Morgan also has secrets to hide and it immediately makes all of her actions suspect for me.

Her secret is soon revealed and she and Jess form a bond and learn to rely on each other. I think Jess sharing his secret could potentially be a silly move, even though he doesn't have anything immediately to fear from Morgan. Who knows how she will react under any future pressure and he barely knows her! (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[I'm loving how the little extracts between chapters are providing us with some truth we wouldn't otherwise get, as it is unknown to the main character's perspective. Wolfe has way more to him than just the strict tutor!

Their journey to Oxford was BRUTAL. I can see why Wolfe didn't want them to venture there. Their arrival into a war zone wasn't much better, either. (hide spoiler)]
